Low Compression on rear rotor
Ok, So I just got a compression test on my motor and the rear rotor has low compression. The mechanic said its not where it should be. What does this mean and how much is it to repair? And since I have to open up the motor would it make sense to port it while I am at it? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How much does a port generally cost? Or how much does a repair generally cost if I am going to fix it putting it back to stock?

The repair is an engine rebuild. The cost depends on who is doing the work and their labor rate. If you have the ability to remove and install the engine then you can save some money, however if you are going to rely on a local shop then you are going to have to ask them what they charge. To give you an idea:
Our standard rebuild is $1500 with all upgraded seals http://www.banzai-racing.com/engine_rebuild_main.htm
Porting starts at $400 http://www.banzai-racing.com/engine_porting_service.htm
Removal and install on an FC is $1000 which includes all fluids, gaskets and labor

It all depends on what you want. Here are a few options:
1) Rebuilding and porting
2) Rebuilding without porting
3) Swapping a TII in
4) Cosmo 3 Rotor (a bit radical)
5) JDM Full swap
Rebuilding yourself will save a lot of money at the expense of time. Most people here do it themselves (or try to) check this out, it should help during the rebuilding http://www.rebuildingrotaryengines.com/
Those are some of the popular swaps rebuilds. Before you go with the first place you see, I would shop around. Rebuilding can get VERY expensive. Shop around; build the set up you want. Here are a few places to check out:

Thoes are just a few. www.Mazdatrix.com is a good place for stock parts. Dont froget the rx-7 club vendor forms and the for sale wanted formes too. Hope that helped some
