FL Loud Thump Switching Gears???

Well guys i just Bought an 87 T2 about 2 months ago. Car was in over all good condition except for a loud thump noise everytime I switch gears. The previous owner told me his son recently put a stage 2 clutch kit in it (not sure by who). The car goes in gear fine and pulls like a dream so i dont think its the clutch or tranny. But i could be wrong.
Im starting to think I have a busted rear end

Wondering if anyone has had or heard this problem and if so what i could do to fix it? Thanks

Broken front diff mount. Replace it and install a pinion snubber.

Broken front diff mounts lead to thumps as soon as you let the clutch out.

well, its normally the front diff mount.
But for me it was the rear diff mount.

So check all diff mount or this will happen

your foot does that..

Sloppy mounts will put more stress on the drivetrain but you should have been smart enough not to beat on a broken car.

I rarely launch my car, so when I went to the track and launched it. It wheeled hop bad and then the stub snap inside the diff.
I knew the rear mounts was bad, but I already had the decision to swap in a S4 T2 diff. The snapped stub just accelerated that decision
