Check engine light, bad idle, and dies
Hey guys,
Here's the problem. I have a s5 89 T2.
When I start up the car, I will have to rev the car up to about 2k rpms in order to keep the car on, after about 2-3 minutes when I keep the revs at around 2k rpms, the idle will jump up and down between 1.5k and 2k rpms. If I slowly lift my foot off, it will idle around like 600rpms, but it'll be kinda lumpy, sometimes the rpms will dip really low. No check engine light, nothing.
When I start driving, after I get through to like 5th gear, and I push in the clutch, a check engine light will pop up and flash, and the rpms will dip really low and sometimes die if I don't blip the throttle. At neutral and at a stop, the check engine light will stay on, if I blip the throttle the check engine light goes away, once it gets back to idle rpms, the check engine light will come back. If I blip the throttle, and hold it above idle, it'll be gone. I haven't had a chance to check the check engine light yet because whenever I go to check it, for some reason the check engine light will go away (probably because I haven't gone to drive around and then check the engine after the drive)
So far, I'm thinking, it's either a bad AFM, TPS off spec, bad idle leak, and the bad start idle could be a bad thermowax.
Anyone got any ideas or helpful hints on where I should look?
