after i drive it for a while. i hear a loud beep and it shows the add coolant light on. but it has coolant for sure any ideas? and i have no leaks or anything.

 

flush the entire radiator reservoir with water, then pull the plug and drain it all out or do whatever kind of flush. or if you cant find the freakin radiator plug and dont have an overhead lift, use a siphon with a hand pump and remove all the fluid from the overflow, then wait a bit or whatever and fill the radiator to where it wants to be

the alarm should shut off at that point

basically you probably have too much overflow in the resevoir or air bubbles, and even when you think you get rid of the alarm it will still haunt you lol

i disabled mine for a while but yeh thats not the right way to go :p

 

Maybe you are you low on coolant though. Just because you see coolant in the overflow doesn't mean you aren't low. You may have air bubbles as previously mentioned.

 

Check the sensor right on top of the radiator and see if the plug came undone.

 

Grab the large hose on the top of the rad that goes to the filler cap and squeeze from the bottom up, effectively "burping" the system.

Also when filling the system, pull the sensor plug on top of the rad and fill with coolant until it starts to come out of the hole.

 

okay cool thanks guys im gonna get a flush at some place my brother told me it works hella good. but if i see bubbles dont that mean thats bad and i will have to rebuild motor soon?

 

if you see bubbles in the radiator it might be too low, if you see bubbles only in the reservoir that could mean nothing. keep a look out for leaks and check your coolant level frequently for a while (and consistently when the motor's cool so you're accurate). if you see OIL in the coolant, you most likely have big problems and the same if you see coolant in the oil (might as well check that when checking coolant, amirite?).

 

That sounds like the "you blew your engine/ coolant seal" buzzer. Sorry for the bad news. Just my $.02

 

If you find that the coolant levels are OK and you still get that loud buzzing sound, ground the brown wire that hooks up to the coolant level sensor. That will stop it from buzzing until you can replace the bad sensor.

 

clean your sensor....check your coolant level.......check your level sensor wire......its not really all that hard.

 

1. Air bubbles. (just open and close lid to get rid of them

2. Faulty collant thermosensor (buy a new one)

3. mazda OEM thermosensor 65 bucks (no BS)

4. try a salvage yard S5 and S4 are differ

 

really it buzzes when collant seals go bad. mine were nasty but never gave the signal?

 

okay cuz the car runs great but when i hear the sound i get scared and pull over and check everything. but i will check sensors and replace thermostat thanks guys!

 

well if it doesnt overheat then the little sensor on top of the rad could be faulty

 

Mine had problems and was going off every once in a while. I was constantly losing coolant, but not blowing any smoke out the tail pipe. After looking around for a while, I found a few small leaks. One was the hose behind the water pump that goes to the thermowax. And the other spot was the thermostat housing, which wasn't down tight enough.

These caused some air bubbles throughout the system. Now that they have been taken care of, there haven't been any problems.

 

Did you bleed the coolant? If you have an S4 there is a screw type plug in the side of the radiator where the upper hose goes, remove it and fill until fluid comes out, replace the screw and top off, leave cap off and start engine and top off as necessary until engine is warm, also lightly squeezing the hoses helps as well.

 

Disabling the level sensor is a BAD idea. It's there for a reason! And I've never heard of one of these going bad. Maybe others have though...

 

yeh i think you have this slightly mistaken... you want to bail on the car when the TEMPERATURE goes up like even a little past midline

the radiator warning, ****, it will drive you mad but it can stay on for a month straight if its just a bubble or bubbles or old nasty radiator fluid or whatever heh

i still cant find that damn drain plug on mine tho :o

 

1. It's never a bad idea (unless you're in Compton) to pull over and check things.

2. Do you have a stock radiator? If so, the drain plug is on the bottom... not a whole lot of real estate to check over.

 

What i did was there is lots of rust inside there and i removed the thermostat and put a new gasket on and filled it with water drove it a while and drained it and refilled it im gonna do that for a month and then put a new thermostat in and add coolant and water cuz everytime i drain it rust is coming out so im gonna get as much as i can out of there. i also diconnected that sensor but i will try to go to a junk yard and replace it. thanks for help guys!

The bottom of the radiator...

That undercarriage you're talking about is probably the air flow sheet (I totally forgot the name for it... but w/e). If you take it off you'll see the drain plug.

Refer to page 3-2 of the FSM.

 

there is a bleeder for that radiator on the side start the car warm it up and open that thing till **** starts coming out then top off the radiator and the thing will shut up keep and eye on the temp gauge

the drain plug is on the bottom of the radiator (round thing about size of quarter with philips head) i believe its on the drivers side of the radiator
