loop power steering lines for manual

i took my power steering pump offand cut the line that goes in the top of the pump and hose clamped it to the line that came out of the bottom of the pump. its not going to pop off i tried to pull the connection apart and it is not going to seperate. Other than that what can it hurt?

when i removed p/s on my n/a... i just filled the rack with fluid, (no fittings in the holes) and turned the wheel lock to lock, then plugged up them holes with drain plugs.

i have never had a problem.

i installed a manual rack from an 86 or 87 Se model. less of a headache. yours will eventually leak.

I'd say it'd be fine, but I'd at least shorten the lines as much as possible, it'll help lighten up the steering a bit. Or if you want you can modify the rack the way I outlined in the 2nd gen archives.

jesus guys
buy a 89 rack
Take apart the rack
buy new tie rod ends(safety)
cut the old rack seals out
cut the old metal lines and jb weld the ends
reasemble with grease and threadlock(manual will tell)

here is a link to a service manual that will competely tell you how to tear down the rack

Dude your ***** going to lock up im serious! I cut my lines too like a homo and then i let the car sit for one week and guess what something got into my rack and destroyed the bearings and when i turned the wheel it locked up on me...Not cool at all! Fill your ps rack with fluid or gear oil and screw on cap's and youll be fine but dont wait.
