is it for turbo or n/a?? if it's for turbo you can get a j-spec for around that much. the price that you have there i think is just for the rebuild kit. not for the rebuild itself or instalation.

????

I though that was a pretty good price, but you can get a rebuild for ~ $800 I believe.

thats just the kit!!! are you two talking about buying a rebuilt motor or having someone doing a rebuild? i mean, i jsut can't believe that they charge that much for the parts. i always hear about the simplicity of rebuilding a rotary motor and how few moving parts it has...but if all the seals and whatnot cost that much.....damn...

Ya, the price for several gaskets and 6 seals is outrageous- total of $2.00 in gasket materials and whatever for apex seals does not = $200

thx Vroom...thats better than 900 at least.

All in all though, I'm jsut kinda "ugh" about it. Last month I totally rebuilt a Honda D16 for the hatch, new seals and gaskets throughout, and a set of Total Seal rings, and it was still like half of what this looks like its going to cost.

You're also paying for several unnecessary items from Mazdatrix.(side seals, $18 each, etc.)

You're also better off reusing your old rotor bearings.

breakdown:
Gasket Set, Rear Main Seal, Front Main Seal
~$3.00 in gasket material

Rotor Bearings, Main Bearings
total ~$40.00

Inner & Outer Oil O-rings
~$2.00

Apex Seals and Springs, Side Seal Springs, Corner Seal Plugs, Corner Seal Springs
~$60.00

Thermo Pellet
? not much

So the grand total is $105-150.00? what a joke, just order the pieces individually and save $500.00 unless there's something i'm missing.

This needs posting periodically-
There is NO SET definition of a "Rebuild Kit" !!
Every vendor puts a different combination of parts in their "kit".
We include (in our Rotor Kits) ALL parts that go on a pair of rotors --
We do not include a gasket set (lets us maintain many fewer Rotor Kit part numbers).
Racing Beat includes what we do, + a gasket set
RR includes bearings in their "kit" - we do not, nor does RB
RR does NOT INCLUDE oil control rings ($203 for the set)
RR does NOT INCLUDE side seals ($115 for the set - depends on year)
RR has good prices - their "kit" is $596? - I priced out the same parts, our cost = $592?

Want a cheap "Rebuild Kit"?? how about $91.56 (8 water seals) -
but then you should just buy the 81-82 gasket set ($90.85) - get those seals + much more.

Bottom line (PLEASE!), do NOT compare the "price" of a "Rebuild Kit" from different vendors! Be aware of what is included, and compare the total of THOSE prices.
Most vendors sell ALL those parts individually - maybe you do not want all the parts in
ANY vendors "kit" ???

We use all the parts in our Rotor Kits on every engine we build --
You can decide which specific parts you want for your rebuild.

Well seeing as how I would not know what this motor will truely "need" until it is fully taken apart, I cannot buy jsut individual parts. Thats why I felt that a "kit" would be the better route. Besides, while its out, why not relpace everything. My question these gaskets cost this damn much?????

If you're bitching at the price, go get another car...preferably something domestic.

"Import" parts costs are going to be in the "thousands".&nbsp Ever price engine parts for a Toyota or a Honda?&nbsp They can break $1,000 real quick.

Ever prices EUROPEAN engine parts?&nbsp They can break $5k EASILY.

Yes, you can get a complete domestic V8 "rebuild" kit for under $1,000 (pistons, rings, valves, etc.).&nbsp These parts are made locally (no tariffs) from aftermarket suppliers (no, I am not aware of anyone offering quality aftermarket Mazda rotary engine parts) catering to a huge market.
