The stock TID is S-shaped and doesn't attach to the TB. Which part are you talking about?

TID = Turbo Inlet Duct = The pipe between the turbo and the AFM or air filter.

TB = Throttle Body = The complex mechanical carburetor-looking thing mounted to the intake plenum above the engine.

Intake Elbow = The manifold that feeds air to the throttle body. It attaches to the intercooler outlet pipe.

Turbo Outlet Duct = The pipe between the turbo and the intercooler.

I curse teH nTRnet terminology on a regular basis. Sometimes I find myself using it at work, and the 60-year old engineers look at me with a blank stare like I am from Mars, lol.

OK, so you want an intake elbow that will make it easier to mount an airflow meter while running without a turbo? OK, GReddy makes two types of elbows; one that is 90 degree, and one that is straight. Unless it will have clearance issues, the 90 degree elbow is probably the way to go since it will most likely work best with the turbo and intercooler once you install it.

90degree (They make one for the FC, but I couldn't find a picture of one in a quick internet search so here is a picture of the FD elbow which will NOT fit your engine but gives you the basic idea):

Straight:

You can also have one fabricated. The nice ones are made from three c-sections of small tubes feeding into one large tube. I have also seen more ghetto versions consisting of a simple flange fed by an over-sized tube or a sheet metal funnel.

By the way, the airflow meter of a 1Gen or 2Gen 13B is called an AFM (Air Flow Meter) on this forum. Yes, an AFM is a type of MAF meter, but most of these younger folks don't know that, and they confuse it with a hot wire MAF sensor.

Yes, that book bounces back and forth between terms sometimes. See Mass Air Flow Systems on page 109-110. The S4 RX-7 uses a flapper door vane AFM, while the S5 RX-7 uses a sliding cone vane AFM which is not shown in the book.

I checked the GReddy website, and apparently they only make a straight FC unit. I thought my friend's FC had a GReddy 90degree elbow, but I just checked and it is the straight piece with an elbow attached. Sorry about that.
