Looking for an AC removal guide

Is there a guide to removing the AC for the FC? Ive done some searching, and came up with nothing. I had some questions about how to relieve the pressure on the high pressure side, and what all is removable, etc.
thanks

There is a presta valve on the low side on the passenger side. Press that valve and hold yuor breath.

Or, got to an AC shop and have them remove it.

Then, if it isn't bolted down I would say you can remove it

just remove everything, its easy, I'm no mechanic and it took me about 1-2 hours to remove everything from the compressor to the condensor. No biggy just start ripping **** out. Of course my a/c system had a leak so I had no more pressure, I didn't have to worry about that but like wankel said there should be a valve there and I believe on in front of the car on the black canister thing, lol. Do you like my terminalogy

The only stuff that is a pain to remove is the underdash stuff. The rest is really easy and just unbolts. Just be careful draining the system too; that stuff can burn you pretty good.

are you guys pulling the AC off for weight reduction or because you think it is drawing power?

kind of curious because i see a lot of people that think it robs their car of power, which is only true when it is engaged.

i like having A/C but i try to use as little as possible, it gets upwards of 115 degrees F here so i don't think i'll be removing it out of lack of use anytime soon but i was just wondering why most people pull theirs off.

I took mine out because I like the weight reduction, plus it did not work. Also I was ripping everything else out at the time. It really makes the car a lot easier to work on. I am currentyl ditching the rats nest.

I agree with Karack, it doesnt make any difference in power, as long as it is not engaged. I took the belt off the compressor, and the compressor spins freely, i cant imagine it robbing any power from the engine while disengaged. I just wanted to take it out because a) it doesnt work and b) it will simplify the engine bay and c) possibly take a little weight off

^^^ my three reasons as well. Here in louisiana it's always so damn cold you don't need it anyways ok maybe not but oh well, I figured having a black sports car without a/c in the tropics would be fun

the R12 leaks out of the system over time, mine didn't work either so i retrofitted it to R134a for about $25 and it was almost too cold in the car today while the ambient temp outside was 95 degrees F.

it is a simple thing to change the freon over, the fittings are about $10 and the freon is about $7 per 12oz can(2 cans needed), one of them having the oil for the conversion in it.

Where did you obtain that stuff from?

The only reason I have ever contemplated removing mine is because it's out of juice and pretty much worthless.

I was going to buy one of those 134a kits from NAPA that had the pressure guages but wasn't sure how well that would go. They also have that pesky little sign that says it's illegal for them to sell that stuff to non-licensed AC technicians but they leave it out on the sales floor...?
