lonely plugs. na s4, lets find them a home

so i thought i documented everything pretty well on where it all goes but today finalizing an install, i found a pair of plugs that didnt have homes.

they are on the front, behind the water neck on top.
any help would be great. thanks!

black one is unused and is for an auxiliary fan for air conditioned cars(sensor sits in that hole in the coolant filler neck which is blocked off).

white one is for the alternator(edited).


damn, can't even see my pretty motor! (assuming that is what you're dropping in)

Correct me if I'm wrong.. But I was always told that it was for automatics.

nope, i'm not sure why but some cars had the coolant switch and others didn't. my 1987 TII did have it and had the auxiliary electric fan, never was an auto.

Only S4 automatic NAs and TIIs had the aux. fan. My TII had it, but my manual convertible does not.

i didnt even think about alternator.. im so used to it being in the power steering location that i didnt even check the alt..

anyway. got it all buttoned up yesterday and it fired first crank. very nice ben!
