logican - ok to
touch the solders while it is still connected to the long snaked cable way up in the dash?
basically mine will come on sometimes after few minutes of driving, VERY annoying.
so I want to use the contact cleaning spray and blast it first and let it dry and then touch the solders.
ALL this with out taking it entirely out of the car, is it possible? just to unscrew it from the facia and take the covers off enough to get to the board??
sorry to sound lazy but it is my turn to watch the baby over the weekend and that gives me 3 hours every night when she is sleeping.
I do have spare logicons, how long will it take me to take the entire thing off? or can I reach from the below the dash and unhook the darn connector?

You have cold solder joints in the Logicon OR the plug at the end of the long harness/ cable is loose.
Just remove the Logicon and do it right. You can get to that plug three different ways. remove the gauges and reach back, or reach up from the pedals, or remove the vent trim panel at the windsheild and reach down.
I can swap a logicon out in about 15 minutes myself, but I think a half hour is about average for someone that has not done it before.

I thought this might help other people here.
