VA little heat when set on 'face'

'88 Convertible with 135K and owned from birth...

When heater is on 'face' - the air coming out is not very warm but when set on 'floor' its nice and hot down there. When set on 'both' - the floor is hot but face is hardly warm. Blower strength is fine. Its very strange in my opinion. Not sure if this is relevant but this past summer when A/C set on 'both' I got warm air on floor and cold on 'face'. When set to 'face' only....nice and cold. After driving a while the air on the floor does turn cold. Not being a mechanic I don't even know if there is something I can check easily to see if something about the air blending is not connected? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Terri

Could simply be poorly sealed connections between the plastic ducting for the air under the dash. Ive been working under the glove box to replace my front speakers and noticed the ducts were not tightly sealed against each other.

Been awhile since I drove an FC, but I can tell you that most of the time the dash vents in my FD blow air that's about half as warm as the rest of the car, including the defroster.

Might just be an RX-7 thing. From what I've read, it's gotta be set on full dash vents to get any heat. If it's 50/50 dash and floor or dash and defrost, all the heat goes there and not to the dash vents.

As I described in my post....I get strong heat on floor when its set on full floor. I get barely warm air on full dash. On 50/50 I get hot air on floor and barely warm on dash. I have had the car since 1988 when it was new and this is the first cold season this has happened. I always got hot air from dash and floor no matter what setting was used.

I think I will just let my feet be nice and toasty and wear gloves....lol.
