Is it a real SHOCK or is it just like touching a doorknob after scooting accross carpet? I always get a little shock getting out of my car this time of the year when the air is dryer.

I get shocked getting out mine sometimes.

Only way I have found to stop it is before getting out of the seat is to basically ground yourself. Touch the door or some part of the metal before getting out of the seat. Works for me.

Yep, sounds like static electricity, which is routine when sitting in the seat and moving around. Also, colder weather causes more static buildup, too.
On a side note, my MX-3 actually has a thing on the door panel you touch to get rid of the static electricity.

Yea, make sure you always ground yourself (meaning touching any metal part of the car) before refilling gas.

When you dry your clothes, use Bounce dryer sheets as it eliminates static. Really works

take a ground cable like the braided type, and bolt it to the chassis. Let the loose end drag on the ground.

Listen to staticguitar..obviously he knows something about this sort of thing

Or you could just get some leather seats..I'm assuming you are getting charged by cloth seats..I never have had this problem

i havnt noticed the shocks, but i rarely drive my seven during the winter

my moms jeep does it real bad

i think it depends on they seat material and whether or not you naturally touch metal when getting out of the car.

Some cars just seem to be worse than others. My MX-3 shocks me basically every time I get out of it don't dischage on the door first, and my moms van was really bad too. ITs been so damn long since I've driven my 7 that I don't remember if it shocked me much or not

you should see what a jet does when it flys, it builds up huge amount of ESD. If you want to quit getting shocked, then ground yourself before getting out, like touching metal before you get out. Also rubber wouldnt ground, the metal cable dragging would work the best, but you would spark and someone would say you have something dragging.
