I was cleaning my lim gasket since it had a thin layer of gasket with a bronze wire brush. I cleaned it down to metal thinking it was bare metal before. Would there be an issue if it use it this way?

 

A before pic might help describing your concern. Based on the pic, It looks like a good LIM lower gasket.

 

thanks. It looks like it had some black coating and I cleaned it thinking it was carbon build up.

OK, got it. Not really sure what that coating is - maybe insulating film to prevent the steel gasket from corroding against the Aluminum mating surfaces. Consider applying some dielectric grease and it should be fine. Totally guessing tho.
