The BBS convertible wheels are 15x6.5", they're not 16".
You should factor in the tire weight, as sometimes going to a lighter, smaller wheel can be offset by taller, heavier sidewalls. I remember looking at some 17x8.5 Enkei RPF1's at 15.5lbs with 235/40/17's and comparing them to 16x8 RPF1's at ~14.5lbs with 225/50/16's and the 16's were no lighter as a whole, and that's with narrower tires to boot.

Yeah, whoever was talking about getting lighter tires is right. Someone on my motorcycle forum posted up about how if you spend $$$ on CF rims, you could get the same weight savings by buying different tires. It had the math + everything. Pretty cool.
Since the tire is out farther than the rim (duh) the rotational mass would be affected more between a heavy + light tire, as opposed to rims. Unless you're going from some chromed out 56" rims (yeah.. exageration.) to 12" rims.

Yes the same weight larger wheel will probably have a higher moment of inertia (I never said they wouldn't), but for handling it doesn't matter what size it is. The thing is most of the time we pick tires based on grip, wear, price and availability in our chosen size, weight is more a secondary concern. If you have 2 similiar tires to choose from, then by all means get the ligher one, but most of the time it'll have softer sidewalls and will compromise feel and responsiveness (Toyo T1S and T1R are notorious for that, light but mushy). As for wheels there's really only fittment, strenght, weight, cost and styling to worry about, and there's a lot more selection, so it's easier to just get a lighter wheel and pick the best performing tire that meets your criteria.
