less boost when hot?

car: stock s4 tII, all original.

When hot the car seems to make boost much slower. It seems to take roughly twice the revvs at the same throttle position to make full, stock boost.

when cooler (after a warmup session), at a certain throttle position the car will make full boost pretty quickly. but after a freeway jaunt on a hot day, at roughly the same throttle position the car will only make about 3lbs rather than 5-6.

im thinking a wastegate problem? any ideas?

Probably the wastegate actuator not properly adjusted.

it's a turbo car dude, they never run as well when they are hot. it's probably just a heatsoaked intercooler. it's only rated at 182 horsepower, and that's only going to go down when it gets hot outside.

its not building boost as fast per the gauge(s). theres got to be a reason for it. clearances, etc.

any car is slower when its hot vs cold... the T2 is really noticeable, they seem like they go from 182hp to 82 hp.

if you insist on trying to fix something, look at the throttle body, there is an over elaborate yet easily escapeable double throttle system that sort of wears out and defaults to being closed all the time.
