left my windows opened and it rained.
now. dont sit here calling me an idiot. i have bad memory loss and sometimes i camt even remember things, so this morning i wake up with my father pulling his hair out (no, literally he was ) crying and complaining that "what where you thinking? you left your windows OPEN!"
so now my entire inerior is soaked, and its still raining. ive closed the windows and the sunroof ( yah, i know) just now and im wondering, whats the best way fo me to help the car dry itself out while preventing mold and any other things from forming in the now jungle like atmosphere of my interior?

im allergic to it.
and yes, the shamwow made short work of the carpet. it soaked it up and now the carpt isnt the swamp it previously was in. i was pretty impressed, but i didnt say wow. it did what it was supposed to do, and thats soak up gobs of water, even the pollenated water.
ive done all i can now. the passenger side has not been worked over yet, so im going to dry the shamwow and start on that side, and then work on getting all the water out of the seat.

That sucks. Yea just soak up what you can, hitting it with a shop vac would surely be a good idea. Let it all air out and if it starts to smell like mold then you gotta shampoo all that out.

When my top leaked before i changed the seals, it got pretty wet in there once, I removed the seats pulled up the carpet and sucked the water out then dried it with shop towels and then cleaned it really well and made sure it was completely dry.
As for the carpet I rented a rug doctor and went to town on it, it made a huge difference and then I mounted a shop fan to circulate air to dry the carpets since they were still fairly damp from using the rug doctor. If your seats were wet I would imagine removing them would be your best bet, I got lucky and my seats somehow were perfectly dry.

I left my drivers window open once and it rained real hard. Manual windows and mirrors, so only seat/carpet got wet, but it was soaked. I had to catch a 6:00am flight and was running late. Grabbed a couple of towels to sit on for the ride. and it was pitch black dark out.
When I got to O'Hare, I noticed that my right pantleg (jeans) had acted like a wick on the back, soaking up (filthy) water out of the carpet/floormat. the entire back of my lower right leg looked like I spilled a pot of coffee on it. Had to walk around like that until I got to my hotel later in the day
Doh!

Just make sure as soon as you can get as much of the standing water out. I've used one of those carpet cleaners with an extension with a lot of success. I had to clean out mold from my sister in laws car because they had left the car sitting for awhile and a bunch of leaves piled around the truck seal on her jetta. Eventually the water got in the trunk and decided it would like some mold.

your interior will probably smell moldy for a week or two.. I did the same thing and left my windows open once and eventhough I used a carpet cleaner to suck out all of the water and I dried it up as best as I could, the thing still smelled musty for a few weeks.

I'd go at it with a shop vacuum and then Put the Dehumidifier in the Back of the car at nights, and let it Run,with the windows UP!.
I am guessing that the Dehumidifier by rights should take Moisture out off the Car's interior Nicely. But you have to have it in there for a While(that is Maybe a WEEK.).
Remember,(what am I saying??,he left the windows down in the rain!..J/k!)that the Dehumidifier needs to be Drained when FULL!

someone broke my window, stole my tape deck??????????, then it rained. Had to replace the whole carpet set because of the smell. I have a brand new black molded carpet set if you need it, need to cut holes for shifter, seat bolts, etc. Ended up using a used set.
