Leather Conditioner
Leather Conditioner
I just bought an '86 GXL N/A w/ 61,000 origional miles on it. The woman is currently in her late 50's and has babied this car since she bought it. Not only has it been garaged, but Covered in her garage. It has a gray leather interior and she's had sheep skin seat covers on for the past 16 years. The seats are in emaculate condition (as is the rest of the car) however, I do want to condition the leather as I will probably take the seat covers off.
Anyone know of a good brand of easy to find conditioner?
Thanks

The simoniz stuff is fantastic. I got it at walmart, I think it was $3.50
BUT if the leather is hard or cracked there's only so much that can be done. If the seats are perfect, on the other hand, you might not need to do anything to them.

simoniz is crappy tire garbage.
Use either meguires or Mothers
mothers is the best. nothing beats them
btw Terrh is wrong, if you seats are perfect u still have to keep them perfect. Over time sheepskin or leather will crack over time when they lose their moisture....
You have to keep them subtle or they will crack and flake

I use Bass Mink Oil available at Bass Factory Outlet Stores.
Maybe one closer to you than a RR Dealership.

i remember reading an old issue of Grassroots Motorsports where they resurrected the leather interior of an 88 M3. they used a couple bottles of black shoe polish(Kiwi?) and then let it completely dry. then after that they got the buffing stuff and spray to shine it up. it really livened the dead looking leather. and the shoe polish didnt smear when you sat in the seats, even on hot days!! dont remember the exact issue but try a search for it.
shoe polish really helps discoloration, but as far as softening old leather, there's not alot that can be done.
The simoniz stuff that I used really softened my seats up, but they're still nothing like new leather. Do any of these other products make old leather feel new again?
