leaky seals in turbo?
hey iv been searching for the answer for this but i couldnt really find a definate answer so please dont rip me apart if this has been covered before
im looking to buy a 10th ae with about 70k on a reman'd motor, i was told that is shoots out blow-by smoke when shifted at redline (only at redline) and that it was probably leaky oil seals in the turbo. the car has intake, full rb exhaust, an fcd, runnin 8.5 psi, and some other small mods
Please let me know if leaky oil seals in the turbo is a correct diagnosis, and if there are other things that could possibly be wrong
If it is leaky oil seals in the turbo, what needs to be done to fix that and what else could this be affecting?
Thanks for any help

It could be failing oil control rings.
Do the high idle test to make sure it's not the engine.
If it's the oil control o-rings, you need a rebuild ($$$) to fix that problem.

The engine I'm presently rebuilding for the fellow down the block, had smoke issues. When I was standing by the engine bay and holding the throttle open at a constant high rev, the exaust was pouring smoke out.
It was NOT the turbo. Part of the smoke might have been coolant (corroded front housing caused the inner o'ring to leak water into the chamber), but most was smoke from bad/used up/ baked oil control rings.
This was on an original motor. 1987 vintage.
In other words, dittos to the above post. Just took longer to write.

Look dumbass, stop bumping your thread to the top, cause we already answered your question above.
If you have no idea what we were talking about, take the car to a shop which can fix the problem for you.
