TX lc1 troubles.

this is prob the wrong part of the forum to post but im gonna do it anyways.

installed the lc1 last night and did the calibrations for it this morning. the afm gauge is showing 21.9 at idle. Is this normal at idle??? lol

i have a safc to balance things out. just need to know a few things about tunning it out.

Running 720's,780's on S5 TII

RF320 turbo at around 8-9psi

Nope. Idle should be about 11-13 AFR, depending on engine temp. What steps did you take to calibrate it exactly?

which gauge do you have? the XD-16 or the blue/red face analog gauge? this is likely a grounding issue, it's very common on the LC1

i did the open air calibration. took the sensor off. unplugged the lc1 from the sensor and started the calibration process exactly as it says.

i have the blue analog gauge.

ill check all the grounds for the lc1 again and see what happens.

Look at this diagram I made a while back. There are three grounds for the LC1.

There is the white wire, the green, and the blue. The blue is the header ground. That should be grounded to its own separate bolt, apart from everything. The green and white can be grounded together. I prefer grounding them to an extra engine ground I had already made.

pictured in here is the XD-16 gauge. Unlike your analog gauge, it uses a digital signal. But there are similarities in the way it hooks up to the LC1. I like to ground the gauge to the same point as the white and green wires.

I don't have the calibration switch shown here--calibration is built into the XD-16.

ok this is how i have mine setup.

LC-1 (Red) Power- Under dash ign 12v /w inline fuse 5A
LC-1 (Blue) Ground - Ground into a ground wire i found under the dash
LC-1 (White) Ground - Same spot as the blue
LC-1 (Brown) analog 2 signal - analog gauge.
LC-1 (Yellow) analog 1 signal - nothing.
LC-1 ( Calibration Button ) - Between the same ground as the blue wire and LC-1's ( Black ).

Now the problem could be that the ground wire i chose is not adequate enough for all the grounds or just not a good ground at all.

Ill make a chassis ground tomorrow and post the results.

The grounds would be a simple place to start. I just used ring terminals bolted to the chassis.

ok turned it on today and found a small hole on the bung that i missed when i welded. fixed that problem. the gauge is reading 19.6-20 now. how can this be! this is way too lean.

thought i might add, the lc1 came with the extended bung which i welded 30" @ 2:30 from the turbo.

Solved!

So after running around the problem for a few days i finally decided to drop the exhaust again and low and behold a pin size hole in the weld around the bung was causing fresh air to come in when the exhaust was under low pressure... LC-1 reads 14.5 at idle now.

Moral of this story....

Weld it right the first time!

That's a suspicious reading as well, unless you still have a cat and airpump.

nope strait through exhaust, no cat no air pump.

it was reading a little richer than that at first, i adjusted a little with safc to get at 14.5
