I like the sleepy eye look. I want to change the stock lights to smaller round lights and do it or get the pivot controller (which you can get off ebay for like $70 not 180) so that the lights are still functional at night, but this is one of the last things on the To DO List.

I think I'm addicted
I'm not sure if the Pivot Controller (someone who has it should confirm) allows you to turn on your lights... where i read the instructions, and descriptions, it says when u turn ON your lights it raises the headlights 100% and when u turn OFF your lights, it makes it stay up....
of course i cannot confirm this without the controller myself, and even though i am a supporter of lazy eyes, i don't think spending 70 bucks on a controller is worth it.
though if u guys SHOULD consider any "benifits" is that, at night, the stock FC lights DO raise much higher, the angle at which is raised (or hypotenuse of the triangle formed from the lights being up) seems much greater than a 240sx or even an FD. compared to a miata or MR2 the lights seems a little less upright,
so, given this, (unless u change your headlights to non-popup or not driving with headlights) the stock headlights will be a little worse in aero than lazy eye... (if that even makes the slightest difference) and personally i don't like the non-popup style lights, so either i keep it stock or lazy eye for me
other than that, the lazy eye makes the car looks like a BMW 840/850 at night since their headlights don't come up as high also, so it has its "unique" side

I think he meant the half open headlight creates less drag than the fully open headlight at night because of the lower profile...
not defending the mod or anything. An aftermarket intake can be fed with a properly installed vented headlight cover (i.e. bracket material removed and rubber at leading edge of hood deleted for actual usable airflow combined with a cold air box) so that your headlights don't look broken.
If you are doing it for the look, just admit it, and move on. Don't try to make a mechanical advantage case out of it to justify it.
I tried it for about a day, then promptly returned my retractor fuse to its rightful place. To each his own, and if that's your bag, motor on

with the lighting options availalbe today in smaller formats it's a popular option with most H4/pop up lighted cars.

As predicted even the mear mention of ' non sactioned ' mods pulls the redneck brigade out of the woodwork.
aerodynamic bennifit at night, for most people on the 400/407 that's mostly high speed hwy driving. Regular lights at full height throw up a spoiler ~128 sq/in.. my 'sleepy eye' throws ~ 48 sq/in, regardless of the lights getting 100% or 35% of the air flow over the car it's a 2.5x smaller spoiler area.... with a much better beam pattern and better nighttime visability with PIAA yellow ion bulbs. I've experienced the difference in fuel useage over a large test base, not just one or two times, but consistantly over 1/2 year. For me those reasons are enough.. so far no one has given a valid reason to KEEP the H4's other then " it ain't right.. you must be a ricer or a commie.. "

you must be driving mad fast on the interstate now yo! How much hp do you think you gained from this mod? Oh lord I could go on but I won't I'll just laugh when I see one of these mad tight jdm headlight conversions just like everyone else does. In all seriousness how much drag do you think the lights actually have?? I mean now a parachute has drag but freakin pop up lights, common. I think the next time I go drag racing I'm going to put up my lights to slow down instead of pulling the parachute

We've covered this many times before, all with the same result. Inevitably, the thread turns into bashing and an argument as to whether this mod makes the car look stupid (it does). So, we're done here. If you want more info, then try a search for "sleepy eyes", "lazy eyes" or "pivot controller" and variations on that. You should find several hundred closed threads, all containing the same thing.
