The real answer to your question is ditch the stock mufflers too, you need a completely open exhaust from end to end. No mufflers would be very loud and get you allot of unwanted attention, but a good setup (Apexi R1 dual for example) will still shoot flames and sound (and look) good while doing it. It will also be much quieter than a straight pipe while cruising.

anywho...

I told some buddies at work what i had done and they wanted to hear how loud it was. We went out to the parking lot and one of them was standing behind the car but off to the side while the other guy was standing about 5 feet directly behind the driver side exhaust pipe.

I am revving and the guy directly behind the car says "Rev it to redline!!!" and so i do. As soon as I let off the gas I hear this...

*BAANG!* "AAAHHHHH!!!!"

I get out of the car and see the guy directly behind the car laying in the fetal position holding his crotch and the other guy laughing his *** off.

The shockwave from the afterburn hit him directly in the *****.
Oh Lord JJ, don't give the OP any bright ideas. The next thread will be, how do I make Super Saiyan Goku attacks come out of my tailpipes?!?!

While I do enjoy the loud crack noise from my exhaust from time to time, but why the hell do people want their exhaust to shoot fire???

A properly running stock FC is not going to shoot flames out of the exhaust much.

Yeah, it's rare, and I just happen to own one.

*starts knocking on wood and throwing salt over his shoulder*

Clokker has a properly running FC.

*tosses clokker under the bus*

My turbo swapped vert will blow flames. I use it to scare off the Honda kids who don't know better.

I have not heard R1 exhaust first hand, that being said I prefer Racing Beats exhaust systems. I've owned both N/A and turbo exhausts from them. They have a nice tone on the low end that doesn't get you in trouble for noise ordinances. And if you want to be "that guy" it gets plenty loud as the RPMs get above normal driving.

Since we are sharing rotary stories...

Many years ago, while still living with my folks some of the "got nothing better to do" housewives in the neighbor became concerned over people speeding through the neighborhood. They started doing this neighborhood watch thing and would stand around corners with clipboard and pen and write down license plates of offending cars.

In response I would cruise through the neighborhood in 1st gear and going the speed limit, but with RPMs up nice and high and loud!! They would get all excited hearing me coming thinking they had nailed someone for speeding and were going to leave a letter in their mailbox and I'd come into view going the speed limit..but doing it VERY loudly.

I think I want the apex'i N1s. They sound so nice. Plus I live in Alabama. There are Damn Rednecks running around out here with no exhaust period Lmao so I'd be alright. My neighbor had a 98 corolla with pretty much no exhaust and stuck in first gear. Every morning I'd hear him go down the road bwaaaaaaaaaabaabaabababababa just bouncing off the revlimiter like there's nothing to it haha

I encourage you to hear the exhausts first hand. A video posted online isn't going to give a good indication of what the exhaust is like.

And really the exhaust should be about giving your car some added performance, NOT about blowing flames and sounding cool.

This thread is starting to remind of a friend who owned a Honda Accord. He wanted a loud exhaust like the other cool kids and asked me about exhausts. I assumed he was looking for performance and told him that he can't just slap any exhaust on the car to make it run faster or better. His response was classic ricer, "Oh I don't care if it runs better or worse, or even faster...I just want that sound!!"

Do you not comprehend combustion pressure? Cram more fuel and more air, you get a larger, more powerful combustion. Think explosion. 10 psi or 10in/hg doesn't even compare to the pressures of compressed fuel and air exploding in a chamber.

You needs these flames...

I agree completely. I do believe the N1 sounds nice and Its supposed to be for performance as well. Yeah a nice sound and flames are a nice bonus but I think the N1 is an all around exhaust. But heck what do I know
