knock control box

Is the knock control box the same for S5 and S4 TII's?

eh, I wouldn't say that. It's just my opinion that if all they do is detect a knock, then it's already too late. But I would not take them off without being ABSOLUTELY sure.. and I'm not absolutely sure.

I run mine with no knock control box or sensor.. i think they are pretty much worthless all they do is retard the timing when it detects a knock

it seems to me that a knock could be as simple as hitting the engine w/ a hammer while it's running. Actually the service manual recommends this as a test for the knock sensor. So I think the knock sensor could detect things like the engine shuddering due to improper idle and other things like that. It may not be due to messed up compression or an apex seal that doesn't completely seal.

TurboGxl what year is your car?, o i see never mind ur car is an s5 the knock control box for ur car is built into the n370 ecu,umm sorry but u have a kcb.
the s4 has a serperate module that plugs into the engine harness.
