It would drive me nuts! See if you can isolate the area of the squeek. Put a thin piece of fabric between the hatch & rubber so you know the exact area. Make sure the hatch pressure is uniform all the way around the seal. Meaning there isn't one area exerting more pressure on the seal than another. I use silicone spray on rubber.

do you think its the hatch rubbing against the rubber, or the rubber rubbing on itself on the inside. when i close the hatch, on the right (pass) side, i can push it down about another inch, should it be tighter, i think it is on the other side...should i move the lock up, or should i move the metal latch on the glass part around?

I was getting a bad squeak from my hatch area as well. I just replaced my shocks, and it ended up being one of my shock mounts. Whoever had put the last set of shocks on the car had installed the springs a little crooked, and they didn't sit in the upper shock mount correctly. This caused some pretty crazy squeaking problems.

i think it's the flexing of your car as you go around turns. what you need is a rear strut tower bar

I had the same problem for months when I first got my car. I got rid of it by adjusting the locks down. You have to slam it good to shut the hatch but the noise is gone.
