Knightsports turbo

I have a s5 turbo motor and it has a knight sports turbo on it. I was wondering how do I inspect the turbo I know how to check for shaft play but what about the bearings. If you look in the front of the turbo were the blades are I can`t tell if they are rubbing the inside of the housing or not if you spin the blades I don`t hear any thing. Does anybody know a better way of checking with out taking the turbo apart.

Thanks

When checking for play, you're actually checking the bearings. Check for in/out play and side to side play. See if you can rotate the compressor wheel and get it to touch the housing at all. If not, then it's still in useable shape. Other things to watch for would be bearing noise, or oil leaking into the compressor or turbine.
