Arrow Keyless Entry?

I have just gotten a FC 88 RX-7 GXL

I was curious, Did it come with Keyless Entry?

I didn't see it on the list of specifications, but I wanted to make shure if it had it or not, because if it didnt, its going to cost me more.

LoL
No it did not. I'm about 85% certain the keyless entry hadn't been invented yet. Hahahaha....

...sorry

Good luck with that! There's a lot information on the forum for repairing the door handles. Just do a search.

i'v been thinking about killing the broken door handle syndrome and shaving the handles, putting actuators and keyless entry on my cars. (with a hidden switch on the car)

Keyless entry just requires you to add a motor/door lock actuator to the door and (of course) a keyless entry or security system.

So if you have installation skills, maybe takes you 1 hour total time, if you don't have any skills it might take you a weekend to install a basic keyless entry and door lock actuator.

i just installed mine this last weekend. I had to do some fabricating for the acctuator mounts because the ones supplied were not long enough to span the big hole(whatever the technical term for that is) in the door. pretty simple to hook up

I added keyless entry to my 86. I used a door lock servo from a latter model FC. The mounting points for the servo were, not in my 86 so I had to rig it up. Here is how I mounted it:

Basic Instructions:
http://eyeoutthere.nonsensicality.co...lock/Lock.html

Of course, you will have to get an alarm/keyless entry system and a couple of relays to reverse the polarity on the servo.

I did the same thing for my remote trunk release. The trunk release was really easy to do and it’s very convenient. Plus it helps keep thieves out of the trunk because it can only be opened with a key or by remote.

I used an S5 door lock servo for the trunk as well:

Your trunk wiring makes me want to kill myself.

As for keyless entry, I installed in on my car about 6 years ago. It's basically a no-brainer. I used an AutoLoc controller and some generic actuators from a surplus store. There are plenty of kits nowadays that can be purchased cheaply (Summit Racing has a bunch).

Bah... If Aaron wants to waste time worrying about the aesthetics of parts which are invisible under the car’s interior, that is his prerogative.

From the picture I see two joints insulated with electrical tape. Should he heatshrink. Electrical tape glue will gradually corrode the joint. There is also a ground wire that appears (though the image is hard to see) to be soldered to the mounting bracket of the actuator. Soldering to a fixed object will result in a brittle joint that will break easily. It might be attached to a crimp, in which case I don't see any dielectric grease. There's also no reason that relay can't be mounted somewhere else so that it's totally vertical, or moved totally horizontal. Also, there are wires running every which way which will chafe against the metal of the body.

It's all in the details.

I fixed the doors (had to buy a new handle for the passenger side and add some WD40 to the driver side)

But now I am curious, how much do those keyless entry sets cost and where do you get them?

or is that 'FC actuator' the thing that eletrically opens the doors in the GXL?

Anywhere from $20 and up.
