ok guys, let me clear some things up.

The following is true (much of it has already been said; but for the sake of summarization…):
- F-bodies are Camaros, Z28’s, SS’s, Firebirds, Trans Ams, WS6’s, Firehawks, Comp-TA’s, or anything built on that chassis
- LT1 F-bodies (93-97) have ~275hp and run high 13’s / low 14’s
- LS1 F-bodies (98-02) have ~325hp and run low 13’s (high 12’s with a god-like driver)
- GM underrated the LS1’s to make the hp figures farther from that of the Corvette (which basically has the SAME engine)
- Automatic 4rth gens (93-02) are just as fast if not faster than 6-speeds in the 1/4th because the auto shifts so god-damn fast. (The 4L60E is an amazing piece)
- 6 speed F-bodies have an advantage on the highway because their loses are ~20hp less then autos. Plus, at around 110mph (depending on rear end ratio), the automatic will shift into top gear and rpms will drop slightly out of range of peak hp.
- At high speeds f-bodies have a slight disadvantage because they are so big and have more wind resistance (because of front end surface area). An RX7 with 275hp will top out at around 165mph. An F-body with the same hp would be lucky to see 150.
- F-bodies have an advantage from a standing start because of all their torque and a live axle (solid rear)

- SS’s and WS6’s are NOT that much faster then Z28’s and Firebirds. Yes, they have different suspension, but the only real hp difference comes from the intake and exhaust which is only 5-15hp or so.
- Similarly, CIA intakes and exhaust (short of headers) do not free up that much hp on F-bodies. Headers can add 20hp or more, but then the real hp comes from heads and cams.

As far as a modded T2 RX7 hanging with an LT1 F-body… once you mod a T2 (or any car), all bets are off, so I am not about to call BS on this. Infact, at 20psi, I wouldn’t be surprised if you pulled on the TA (and then blew your engine/turbo to pieces).

If I were you, I would find out why you are boosting at 20psi, because that is not normal. At the very least, get a IAT (intake air temperature), EGT, and/or wide band O2 gauge and find out how much damage you are doing to your engine.

i'd like to be more accurate tho.
like i said,
93-95 LT1's had 275
96-97 LT1's had 285
93-97 SS/WS6 LT1's had 305
98-up LS1's had 305
98-up SS/WS6 LS1's had 320

i used to have a camaro and am an F-body enthusiast. even tho i'm no longer an owner, i continue to participate in F-body gatherings and seem to learn something new about them every time we meet. A local car group that i hang out with on the weekends is http://www.CGFYB.com
