Keep blowing the MAIN Fuse...
So i recently took my battery out of my car to put in my friends cause someone stole his ..
Everything was perfectly fine before that except i had a boost leak, (which I Fixed.).
So i go to put the battery in and it wont start. I blew my main male prong fuse(The main fuse in the middle, the black 80A).
What could this be?? My terminals are hooked to the correct spots and i searched for any loose old wires around that area.
It has to be shorting out somewhere but It doesnt make sense to me that this would just all of a sudden happen.
Any help Is greatly Appreciated!! I am sick of buying and just blowing these freakin things... Plus i need my car.

Something touching the large output terminal of the alternator. Like the intercooler if turbo car.
Or just below the engine bay fuse box, three to six inches down, is a black wire in a single connector. See if there are bare wires on that cable.

get a friend or two, wait till night time (or go somewhere dark) and try to plug in the battery while looking in the engine bay. One of you might get lucky and see a spark.

The problem with that is that the fuse blows as soon as i connect the battery terminals.
Then no electric at all., except my interior lights still work.

the wire with the yellow Stripe is the Negative.(common mistake..I fixed that by putting Black electrical tape on it,and RED Tape on the Positive, that way no mistakes on hooking up battery..works good).

The last time I looked at the series four wiring diagrams, online...here on this site.....the 80amp fuse feeds three items. One is the ignition switch. Two is the output wire on the alternator. Three is the two circuit breakers on the interior fuse box.
See page 50-14 of that wiring diagram that is available online.
So if the key is out of the ignition switch, then it can't feed anything.
Or if you have reasone to suspect the ignition switch....just disconnect the pure black wire from the ignitoin switch plugs.
If the alt large output cable is removed...that eliminates the alternators guts.
IF the two circuit breakers are open they can't pop the fuse. Just work it out.
