They can look quite good with meticulous detailing.
This not only gets you all over the landscape without degrading "originality" but you'll also gain an understanding of the geography and logic behind the layout.
Inevitably, there will be areas you'll feel you can improve and that's great but you can't intelligently make something better until you know what you're starting with and why it's the way it is.
The most seductive mistake of all is equating "different" with "better".

I can never reiterate enough my appreciation for help!
You will most definitely see me again, with a case of beer, and anything else when it comes time for a rebuild. This car ain't going nowhere.
Cone : I like it just the way it is. And so does everyone else it seems.
My conversations with curious passer-bys generally go with them asking if anything was done, replying no it was OEM restored with a few needed changes that John did, and then getting an earful on that it needs to stay that way.
Starting to feel guilty just thinking about doing something.
But I do want to start little projects here and there just to get my hands into the engine bay. Especially now in the cold season.

I still feel like this is a "needs nothing" car. The previous owner had replaced the belts, the hoses were in great shape, I did the thermostat and all the fluids. I did the shocks and the springs, the sway bar endlinks and bushings.
If I had kept it, I would have rebuilt the motor just for kicks over the winter and had my buddy Alan respray the hood and front bumper since the paint wasn't as nice on them as the rest of the car. Maybe some bigger secondary injectors and an RTek along with a little dyno tuning...
