just ordered headers... quick question

ok i just ordered my RB collected header and when i get it i am fabricating a test pipe so i have no cats....

now my question is first... how do i tell if my mufflers are stock (any way possible) because part of the exhaust has been worked on (i can tell by sloppy welds where its just supposed to be bolted) ...

and second will headers and no cat be louder with factory mufflers or performance ones on average... just wanted to know what to expect for when i buy my cat back in a few months... thanks in advance

Guess it just depends on what mufflers you get.

I'd say...if there aren't any cats, it will most likely be pretty loud. I had an RB Header and no cats going to a dual hks and it was loud as ****, but who cares...it made a sizeable difference.

I have no cats going to a single universal muffler on my n/a and its loud as hell. Sets off all kinds of alarms and more than likely wakes the neighbors when I leave for work @ 6 AM.

the racing beats are really quiet tho
headers will make your car super loud
maybe get a presilencer?

i found that no cats with the stock mufflers actually sounded wicked.
but they are fairly restrictive, which is why i had to go with straight through mufflers...
i find though if you keep the stock exhaust manifold, it is loud but has a nice tone to it compared to a similar system with headers...

Thumbs up

I have a RB header/presilencer combo, with a Corksport single and its loud yes..but sounds great. I think if you kept the stock catback on..that it would sound horrible, b/c its just such small piping..I am afraid it would sound something like a buzzin bee haha....I would go with a performance cat-back...you will like the power/ and if you can handle some noise you will like the sound too...

buy some headers and get some muffler shop to fab up some pipes. theres a place where i live that will make a duel exhaust for about 250. you know what that means.

my friend did that with his ford v8 with "turbo" muffs and it sounds soooooo good its real quiet when at idle but wonce he floors it, it sounds like a v8 should

well, like i said whenever i got my straight pipe fabricated to replace the cats and put that in with the stock system, it actually sounded pretty good. i expected it to be not as loud as what i have now (straight through mufflers), but it actually had a nice growl to it...

That was left in a ziplock baggy under my wipers

RB collected header, 2.5" test pipe, 2.5" catback with dual BOMZ ebay mufflers straight through back then when I got the letter. Now I have that with removed diffusers in the exhaust ports and ported exhaust, and I LOVE IT!! It growls like no other, no more high pitched ricey sound anymore.
