just lookin for some ideas*wiring*

I have a 1987 mazda rx7 gxl.
s4 engine s5 manifolds
no emissions
no p/s no a/c
haltech e8(wired in with new loom)
550cc injectors (coming in the mail)
5th 6th ports and vdi are wide open

The car still doesn't start because I think I am using a improper base map and there is to much air.(running 460s with tune for 550s and the ports are all wide open)

Sometimes when I turn the car on the warning lights come on and stay on and sometimes they don't. But a few always light up like when I have the ebrake up and the hatch open.

HERE IS THE QUESTION

do you guys think I should just rewire the rest of my car?

I know I could prob get away with not doing but I think it might just be a good idea. I mean all there is is a cpu, ign switch, headlights, headlight motors, heating logicon, radio etc, fuse box. And on top of things I also already rewired up the battery harness.
After wiring the haltech up and I pretty sure I should have no problem with the rest of the car.

would it make more sense to wire it up with a painless kit? I don't think I would wanna spend another $1000.

please give me some input

once it's all done, you'll be glad you did it, but until then, it's gonna drive you mad!

Personally, I think the project will drive you insane, and you'll get so fed up with it you'll sell the car without ever getting it running :P

I'm already way past the line of getting pissed off and giving up (but I don't give up).

thats why I bought a haltech and I'm selling the ms to a friend, so I could be more than 100% sure my wiring was correct for the engine.

I also haven't seen my car for about 2 weeks now because it is sitting at my cousins house because I moved. I am getting a week off in 2 weeks and I just thought I might shoot this question by the club members to see if they think I should do it.

Why? You're losing power through most of the rev range leaving them like that. Get an air pump and a pair of solenoid valves, and use the E8 to control them. The S5 manifold is a waste of time and effort if you don't.

The car still doesn't start because I think I am using a improper base map and there is to much air.(running 460s with tune for 550s and the ports are all wide open)
The auxiliary ports don't control how much air enters the engine, the throttle does. An engine can't have "too much air" like you think, but it can have not enough or too much fuel for that air. If the fuel map is tuned for 550cc/min injectors then not enough fuel will be injected by your smaller injectors. Scaling the whole fuel map up by ~20% will put you in the ballpark. Getting a more appropriate map would be an even better idea.

Sometimes when I turn the car on the warning lights come on and stay on and sometimes they don't. But a few always light up like when I have the ebrake up and the hatch open.
This is probably just the common warning cluster cold-solder problem. There are dozens of threads discussing this, and Icemark offers a repair service.

do you guys think I should just rewire the rest of my car?
Hell no, that's a crazy idea. The wiring is rarely the cause of electrical problems in these cars. It's almost always the components at each end of the wires. The problem you have seems pretty minor so I have no idea why you'd contemplate this.

I know I could prob get away with not doing but I think it might just be a good idea. I mean all there is is a cpu, ign switch, headlights, headlight motors, heating logicon, radio etc, fuse box. And on top of things I also already rewired up the battery harness.
Geez, you make it sound simple. Many of those items are far too complex for an off-the-shelf wiring harness. Go look at the wiring diagrams for the headlight/taillight system and the indicators s in the CPU. These are not simple systems. You can't compare the Haltech's drop-in harness to this.

would it make more sense to wire it up with a painless kit?
It would make no sense at all. Those kits are for race cars and hot rods with very basic electrical systems. Find the faulty components and fix them. You'll spend less money and time and get a better result at the end.
