Lookin' for engine builders

Lookin' for rx'ers who build their own powerplants just 'cause it's the thing to do...

I can't be the only one!

Reply and we'll talk some tech... or if I'm postin' in the wrong place, lets move!

I've built 2 street port 12a's. I'll be building a street port 13BT To support 400rwhp very soon. This is for my 10AE.

Thanks for the reply, all, and of course I've got questions-

Can we find a rotor seal kit for less than 800-900-$ ?

I'd like to think so. And looking for slick deal on used rotor housings.

I'll be hand lapping my side plates with a small surface plate w/ ? grit sandpaper glued to it. And maybe just hitting the rotor housings with a scotchbrite pad to break the glaze.

You guys do something similar?

Present and accounted for. Im just getting started, but IM doing fairly well I think. IM getting ready to build myself a t2 to play with, and Ive got a few 13b 6port rebuilds to do also.

The best prices Ive found are to use hurley seals, and the rest from mazdatrix, comes out to about $750 or so. It'd be damn nice to find cheaper kits, like around $500, but I bet the price will only go up.

My source for used rotor housings is core motors, I hav 8 in my basement :-)

Not unless you order from Mazda Competition or have a Mazda Wholesale account...

You're asking to devulge all our secrets? Seriously, used housings are a crap shoot sometimes - check out the Mazdatrix site for some nice info on housings.

I don't bother worrying about lapping housings.&nbsp If the housings are warped beyond spec, there's a good chance the engine was overheat or abused.&nbsp Proper lapping takes off "significant" amount of metal which you'll need to compensate for with the front eccentric shaft spacer - unless you got a good assortment beforehand, having to order one from Mazda takes MONTHS!&nbsp Hint:&nbsp those things need to be special ordered from Japan!
