Just installed a few things...

So, lately my car's been riding rough. Really rough. Acceleration would cuz the car to shake a little bit... until last week when it felt like the whole car was going to fall apart.

Well, at first I thought... maybe it's because of my bend rim and the fact that the tires are unbalanced. But when it started getting bad, I thought drivetrain.

Well I was correct in assuming the latter, cuz when I was accelerating from a stoplight, BAM, something goes flying out from under the car and I heard a loud grinding. Great, there goes my U-Joints and driveshaft. We all know that those go out on NA's so no big deal, and the exhaust keeps the driveshaft from being left on the road.

So I took this as an opportunity to check out some of the local junk yards. I just moved an hour or so away for my job, and I was new to the area. I show up, and they have 6 or 7 Rx-7's laying around. 3 of which were S5 Turbos. So I had them pull the S5 turbo driveshaft and joints. I noticed the taillights were in PERFECT condition, so I had him get those too. The driveshaft was gonna cost me 175, and I said i'd give em 200 if they threw the lights on. They did, mwahaha. $25 S5 tails.

Ok, I installed the driveshaft and joints, the car runs SMOOTH as hell, perfect feeling, I was amazed. Here's the problem. There's a clunk that sort of happens. Like something is locking into place, whenever I drop the clutch out and the drivetrain engages. What do you suppose that could be? I'm sure I installed it tightly to the joints, and I did a few hard runs to make sure it wasn't going to give out. Had no problems, and the car ran perfectly. But that noise still happens whenever I drop the clutch out too quickly... when I'm shifting or something.

Just got the tails in today, and they look beautiful btw.
K i'm done, sorry about the long post.

The 'clunking' is most likely your front differential mount-
mine snapped and I just used some angle iron and welded it to the sub-frame.

and that stock mount is weak when putting power to the ground,
so you might wanna check mazdatrix or what not for one of theirs.

And yeah, they're expensive, that's why mine's welded

and you bastard... I'd kill for some S5 tails...

Hm, yeah that might be it. Sounds like it's coming from where the driveshaft connects to the u-joint. Or at least somewhere in that area. I'll check out those mounts, money isn't really an issue for me right now, and getting to a welder would take more effort then working two or three days.

Ya, I got lucky with the tails... there's another set over there too, they're also in great condition.
