dunno, it happened right after installing the pully, now it makes a loud *** pulse vibrating noise over 3.5 only in cabin, bay looks fine and cant hear it in bay? wtf?

 

is your stereo on? maybe electrical noise?

That would be my guess aswell. What size of a pulley did put on, same size, underdrive, or maybe larger.

 

I don't think he is talking about an electronic vibration since he said he just change the pulley. Unless there is something about this car and its stereo that I don't know about, I'd say that its a good possibility that the bearings came unseated while he was changing the pulley. I personally haven't experienced the vibration that occurs when the bearings aren't positioned properly, but it is widely known that they can move out of position while the pulley is removed.

To the guy who posted this thread, I'd go to Mazdatrix web site and read up on this condition and see if it seems like it applies to you. First take another look under the hood and make sure the problem isn't something obvious like a pair of vise grips clamped onto the power steering pump (stanger things have happened

hmm, I was thinking crank pulley. Didn't see the word Dual in there. If you didn't mess with the crank pulley, ignore my first post.

 

If a bearing became stuck or loose during installation then surely he would be able to hear it from outside the car especially from the engine bay, since the sound is mainly heard inside the car leads me to believe that the alternator output has changed somehow and when you are on the gas you can hear a static noise coming from the speakers, ever been in an old car with old car electrical and hear that before? Our cars ain't that young anymore.

 

well..he doesn't hear anything from the engine bay....so the pulsing is probably happening under load....

 

I was thinking that aswell, also weirdly enough it could have something to do with drivetrain but I don't see how putting on a dual pulley would cause that, something rubbing somewhere I'm thinking throwout bearing but do need more details.

 

errr...where did u get the pully ,and how much?

 

its a slightly larger pully, im thinking that its the belts themselves. they are 2 different brands and therefore inherently different. i went and loosened them and its almost compleatly gone, so im gonna replace both belts and post again

 

so was it the belts?
