Just Gatted Cat

I just gatted my cat on my 88 vert. It sounds much deeper, and has a lil nice backfire at high RPM's. But, is it normal for the car to smoke alot when the cat is gutted? It puffs out alot of white smoke the first minute started and when revved. The car has 165,xxx miles on it. Is this normal or is this a sign of my engine going?

Well I know that a lot of white smoke means your coolant seals are going bad. Did it smoke before you gutted it?

Gutting the cat probally just let all the smoke that wasnt able to get out get out much easier.

if you have a big turbo like my girlfriends - turbonetics t76, gutting her cat was the best mod we ever did. Here in australia cops *** rape you if they catch you with no cat, so best thing was to gut the cat so it looked like it was still there.

How are you sufficiently supposed to flow 400+rwhp with a cat there :P

that's what i'm talkin about! do you know how much you'll get fined if a cop sees that there is NO cat there?

gut cat, still stink, and just pay someone a few extra dollars a year then it's all good.

its a 11 thousand dollar fine if you have no cat...

my girlfriend got the fine, but they ripped it up... i dont know how a cop could seriously issue it for real!!! Scared the **** out of her, she cried the whole time the cop was defecting her car (series 6 - FD). Thank the lord they let her off the cat fine.

How hard could it be to fab up a realistic looking cat that would be welded onto the outside of like the RB midpipe? I would imagine with a little bit of welding you could make a pretty decent looking cat that was completely non-functional.
