Talking Just finished installing my headers

I just finished putting on my new mindtrain headers and pre-silencer and I'm impressed. First I thought they weren't going to fit because I was having trouble lining up the pre-silencer bolt holes with the header bolt holes, but Fred told me to loosen the back cat bolts at the Y and it should make it line up and it did. God these headers are loud. I started them up open headers and it was loud as ****, I couldn't hear anything but the exhaust and this was only at idle. I blipped the gas to about 2000 rpms and my brother says I shot a small flame. I didn't go any higher than that. Now I have the full exhaust on and it is probably twice as loud as the stock exhaust system. The trottle response seems to be much better. I was in first at about 2500 rpms and I stomped on it, the tires started to spin and I was climbing the rpms quick. I haven't been able to take it up there all the way, but I like the performance gain already.

i have the same header on my rex and my tires have never broken loose from just punching it at 2500 rpm, not even with my 75 shot of nitrous and my motor is fairly new, about 30,000 miles. but like you, i did notice a huge gain in horse power and throttle response. so congrats and get some new tires that arent bald or find a paved road to drive on.

Yes, header, singular I can bark the tires from about a 4500rpm punch, but 2500.....I can probably run faster than the car accelerates at 2500rpm Glad to see you like it, what are the rest of your mods?

I'm just starting to mod my car, as money comes in.

I have:
3500 miles on fresh motor
cone filter
mindtrain street legal header/pre-silencer
550cc secondary injectors
5-lug conversion

How is your header "street legal"?

Oh and black, how did you have a true-dual pacesetter header? Customized it?

Fred at Mindtrain calls them street legal. I'm making a 1/4 steel plate that will be able to get exhaust gases to the EGR valve that will go in between the block and the header.

How much of a sound increase with just headers? 25% more? 50%?

Thanks, just curious.

Its going to depend on what exactly you get. Most people get catbacks the same time which is going to help it get alot louder. Plus you can get pacesetter, racing beat, or mindtrain headers...with or without any silencers of some sort. Really depends. It will definitely be much louder though.

Thanks, I'll work out my options. I want a really quiet header/exhaust setup...nothing too loud.

The real reason you can spin the tires and he can't is because he has an LSD, and you don't. Crappy tires also make it easier.

With headers and the stock cat-back, my car got about 10000000000000000% louder. It's only really that loud if you get on it, though. If I let off it gets pretty quiet. That's how I pass by pulled-over cops.

my car with all stock exhaust setup is absolutely not loud at all...ive heard some 7's that are loud as all hell so there is a huge difference from working factory exhaust/cats (no holes ) to a high flow header/catback(or no cats at all) system. with all stock exhaust components and a cone filter i can actually hear the cars intake, how many ppl with 7's can hear their intake? heheh....damn i need a new exhaust system

Check Greddy for the catback portion. They make some of the best silent/hp gain exhaust systems ive seen.

too bad Greddy's system is only available from rx7.com as far as I know and it's about $900.00 thats a lotta money to drop for nice mufflers and vry small power increase (from catback alone on an NA). Na's get their power from either headers or downpipe/midpipe that replaces the cat. you could do both but that would be LOUD!!
