Another Rebuild Question???
you probably hear this all the time but exactly what do i need to rebuild my engine? i searched but kept getting an error message.
i have a 1986 RX-7 and need someone to point me to exactly what i need for the rebuild. i believe i need apex seals because my compression is all messed up and im shooting out lots of white smoke from the exhaust.
and do i need an actuall kit? or just the seals?
thanks

Doesn't sound like apexes. Sounds like a coolant seal. Does the car have lots of power still, or is it really weak? When my turbo blew an apex seal, it had NO power, and was LUCKY to see 60MPH.
In either case, you'll still need a rebuild. You'll need to buy a full rebuild kit. You've got an '86 which means n/a. N/a rebuild kits are cheap, somewhere inthe $4-600 dollar range. You'll also need an external gasket kit, and some tools. Do you have a micrometer? A vernier caliper? A dial indicator? The measuring is VERY important, or you'll have an engine that lasts 10 to 20 minutes. If it is an apex seal, you might be looking at a new rotor and housing. That's another $200ish.
I hope I helped.

and its very weak, i don't think i ever made it beyond 60 MPH.
