Just finished a custom header...

Just trying to wrap up this exhaust system for a customer's car. Its the same car with the synthetic cermaic coatings that I have been working on for a while. Its equal length with a nice merge collector, welded on the inside of the flanges, and nice smooth transition everywhere. I might consider making these headers if there is enough interest.

Dude, I'd be interested if the price is comparable to other headers on the market (ie: RB). Even if it is slightly more expensive, it would definately be worth it.

Quick ? though... Is there a bung for an O2 sensor?

looks great! might want to try slip joints over flanges that tend to leak over time ... plus NO GASKETS to burn out with the hi exhaust temps. NICE WORK ... ITS THINGS LIKE THIS THAT KEEP THE THE SPORT GOING !

There will be an o2 sensor bung in the collector, and two EGTs, one for each port..

If I make these there will be some slight changes. I might change the primary tubing diameter, and I would make the header bolt to the stock main cat. They would get the usual treatment, 304SS, ceramic coated inside and out with an aerospace heat rejection coating, X-ray'd for crack detection, .128" wall tubing, and I'm going to change the engine flange to allow for thermal expansion. The same treatment my n/a and turbo to4 manifolds get basically.

I haven't really decided on a price, but they are definatly going to be atleast double what the RB unit is. You're looking at $400 anyways to get the RB unit to bolt in, since you have to use their presilencer. The only company that I see that makes a header that actually works is SDJ, and for an uncoated unit they run around $600! You gotta remember parts made in the USA, can't be done for $1 an hour.

Whats more important to you guys, performance or appearance? Real performance parts are not cheap...

Performance, most definately. ~I thought the RB header was around $700 anyways... Speaking of which... The RB header sucks for decent flow, and the exhaust slams against the bend pretty hard too.

Any thoughts about making a true dual header? (for those of us who run the RB setup already)

Are you going to use any exhaust wrap on those? I know it wont show your beautiful handywork, but it might help in the long-run.

If I make them they will be ceramic coated inside and out with an aerospace heat rejection coating. Here is what it looks like on my turbo manifolds..
I do know one thing, I won't make them unless I have atleast 10 people willing to put down a non-refundable deposit. As you can see I have many turbo(and n/a) fc3s to4 and fd manifolds sitting on the shelf at the shop. Not to mention several internal stud kits, which I have a shitload of time and money invested.....

Looking like I'm scraping the idea, people who want performance can't afford it, those who have the money don't want it....
