Just bought an 89 na. wont idle/keeps dying/etc.
I just bought a 1989 na. It would not start when I bought it, so I pulled the plugs, smelled fuel, threw em away, bought new plugs, wires, let the holes dry out overnight, and put some oil in the leading plug holes. Started the car afterwards, and I had to keep pushing the pedal about an inch down, then letting, back and forth, VERY RAPIDLY. Eventually it starts, but I can not let off the gas or else it will die. I tried letting her warm up all the way, too, then letting off. Still dies. I tried adjusting the idle. Nothing. Anyone knows what's going on?

Check:
1) BAC valve connector is connected
2) water thermo sensor connector is connected
3) trouble codes
4) compression
5) fuel pressure
6) air cleaner element
7) leaky injectors

Try checking the idle adjustment, i had the same problem and all the answers i could find didn't help. turns out the person i bought it off had the idle adjustment all the way open (the one on top of the engine under the small black cap). assuming that you had the same problem as me, car starts, does high idle, and apon returning to idle dies.
also try to keep the car going until its FULLY warmed up (takes about 15min) the temp gauge will stop moving but the doesn't mean its fully warmed up. then see if it idles. if so the adjustment is probably the problem.

Well I don't know what I did, but It now idles at about 2K RPM's, after cold start. Also, I saw that there is some slack in the throttle cable and the bottom plate in the TB has a gap at the bottom, where the plate meets the TB. when the slack is pulled out of the cable, there is no gap. Well, like a hair of a gap. When this slack is pulled, the car starts up fine. When the cable is allowed the slack, it will not start without pushing the gas pedal down at all. How do I fix this. I'm pretty sure I know how, but what is the RIGHT way? Also, the car seems to want to die, when I take off, unless I give it about 5500 RPM's, which is rediculous. I couldnt really do much the second time it died, because it started to pour, therefore, I just parked it(and ran inside). =D well, let me know what's going on please. When it dries up, I'll try and fix the idle?

Also, what would be a good fuel pump? It's all stock except for intake. soon to be exhaust?
(Did I mention the car has MANY EXHAUST LEAKS!?)

im not sure where to get one. my friend let me barrow his.
this is the type i used
take off your fuel supply line and put one and of the T in your fuel line and get another piece of hose and hook it up to the T and the fuel rail. hook up the gauge and try turning on your car and see where the fuel pressure is at.
