You could cut out the a bit of top plastic shroud to fit in the light so that it looks like the first two pics, but more stock.

Keep it up, great thread, do you have a link of how to use fiberglass.

it was super simple... we used scotch tape, a pice of thin cardboard stuff (like in magazines), and some wax paper.

tape the cardboard to there you want the fiberglass... put the waxpaper inbetween the cardboard and the idem you are working with so it will stick to the item and not to the cardboard.
spread the resin with hardner already in it on the wax paper where you want the fiberglass to be. put a layer of the fiberglass, more resin and spread it around... work it is in a little, more glass, more resin. let it setup.

tadaa

umm i was worried that it wouldnt stick... but my buddy learned how to use it in body work 101 at cpcc and he said "you can fiberglass your hand to the couch of you want".

hmm.....first of all, great idea.... definately gives our FCs abit more look...probably performs better too....ok....i looked over blue90rx7's page and found it very insightful..however i dont like the idea of using Hella Optilux 1300s with that type of mounting....the light would vibrate like a **** when ur driving..and lets face it...our cars arent exactly equipped with the most comfortable suspension parts....i do however like the hella 90mm as gilgardo suggested.....but if i read the site right..and i think i did....the lamps are 57 each...thats 4 we'll need right?...not a bad price in the long run....but as of now i dont have that kind of money to drop on a project like this....so i ask.....i found lots of 300zx with projector lights at the local junkyard....would these be of any use?....maybe for high beam or low beam only?....and also a quesiton to nillahcaz....how does ur flipups work?...with the stock switch? does it pop up 1/2 way with parking light switch on then all the way when u turn 2 clicks?..or did u install a killswitch like blue90?....ok..now imma throw another wrench into the system....lets say i wanna install a THIRD light onto the system..have it work only when the flip is fully opened....is that possible?...maybe have a hyper active mode when im driving alone by myself at night..and have a beam that shoots wayy out or a set of orange fog lights....comments suggestions please...thanks

well sunday i did nothing all day.. sorry. but wednesday im off.

I plan to do a write up. I really dont have the time to deal with orders and all. Plus once i do the write up you will see that this project can be done for about $50 if you have some fiberglass already.

when you turn the lights on with stock switch they pop half way up and stop. when you turn them off they quickly go all the way up and then back down.

I too have thought of using stock light components, I already have Audi headlight modules in my RE type homemade bumper, (see avatar), I noticed that the old Mitsu Diamonte's have a projector in the light housings too, and they are all over the junkyards. The Hella's are the best way to go but at $200+ for just the lights this becomes an expensive little project. I made a set of low pop-ups with fog lights before and they worked pretty good actually but I never tried them on the dark highway, I traded them off too soon. I can confirm that they seemed OK to me.

I really want to do this. Wheres the best place to get the lights? Also has anyone figured out yet how to make it so they can go up and down? I'd really like to be able to have them work like stock if its possible.

i asked people that i've followed before, they all said the light stays steady and doesnt vibrate. but honestly looking back i do wish i used better lights. the optilux 1300s are decent but sometimes its not enough. i know there are better ones. and if i had used smaller lights i could have put the top shroud on.

With a telescopic lift arm (the method I used), or an offset pivot point on the lift arm you can get the half way up effect, but it is a little tricky trying to make the parts. The telescopic arms took me 10 times longer than the rest of the kit.

You could position a cut off switch that when the headlight get halfway, it is triped by the headlight it self as it's goin up. than you ould wire in another switch to override that one and then the headlight would go the rest of the way up and down.
