sorry but this is all i have so far.. i had a busy day and then i took a nap on the couch.. oops.. it was more of a sleep than a nap. I passed out for about 3 hours!

but yea thats a few shots of the lights. the last one is of them installed on my buddies 240.

I can make the kit as is now but you will have to run the sleepy eye look.. or manually open and close them every night (booooo).

If anyone would like to help with the flip up half way thing id be willing to give them a free kit... or maybe a small % of the sales. Im a giving kinda guy... we can work something out.

ok ill put together a few to start off. I need to go to a junkyard and pickup some of the top headlight surround thingies so i can fiberglass and mount them.

as is without the flip up action it would be about a 10 to 15min install. I have lots of projects going to get ready for the sundays battle of the imports.

if you would like to go witht the non flip up design it could also be a option.

alright guys, my full day of rx7 work starts now.. im off...
Well, that response would have been great if i even came close to suggesting anything with the FTPs. Really...
I'm assuming that your the actual headlights for the mod are shorter than the stock ones, correct? So, like i said... keep the damn motor the way it is and put some sort of air duct to make up for the space that the modded headlights don't take up. Get it now?

ill buy one for sure, but only if it has the same type of plastic housing for them as our stock ones do. so you can see in behind them and stuff.

im finding most of the 240 guys put a momentary switch inline to the headlight motors comming off the headlight switch so the lights go up and function like normal... then when turned off they stay up, and you bump the switch to make the come down little by little till its what you want.

Why can a switch be installed inline to the motors so that you can bump them up and then when you want them off switch the headlight switch off and have them go up all the way and then down till closed.

Will this work? My question is when the headlight switch is turned to off with the lights half way up will they actually go all the way up and then all the way down. Or meybe they will sit there till you hit the momentary switch to make them go up to finish the up action.

Im trying to keep this simple...

can or cant... see in behind them. I use the stock plastic housing with a fiberglassed lip for mounting. every where i go in town people keep asking me who makes them.

I think what he was trying to say is that since the headlights are shorter, you can let them pop up all the way (as per stock) and use the space UNDER the lights and incorporate a duct into the headlight surround.

It would take up no additional space under the hood, and would require no cutting, but it would be useless with the headlights retracted unless you are running w/o FTP lenses.

AHHHHHH! hmmmm good idea...

wonder how it would look...

would only work then the lights were up... so at night. Cold air is most needed during the day when its hot...

i think it would look funny... big hole.. little lights.

working on it. I will post a official update as soon as its all ready to go. shouldnt be long. Seems there is a decent amount of people looking and asking questions. So it seems this kit is a go.

What i to round up is a stack of stock plastic headlight trim things to modify and mount the lights to. so all the custom work will be done already.

soon as you lock down the up/down thing I am in. I'm willing to sacrifice a little convinience, but I don't want to manually adjust them everyday. I'm REALLY lazy

Any changes of shipping this to europe?

I talked about this mod awhile back with jonequest since my stock lights need to be replaced anyways and have been planning on doing it for awhile now, but since i am atleast a couple of months away from getting to a point with my car that lights are becoming a priority.....

Jaared,

If you are deciding to produce this kit, let us know of a price. I would be interested, whether or not you include the mod to make them stop at the right spot. I would leave them half up all the time anyway.

Next time you get pics, could you get one from the car showing the scatter pattern, or of the car parked in front of a wall with the lights on?

do you have a close up of the light? thats the only way to tell, of im talking about... what IM trying to say is that our stock square lights have that top and bottom molding so everything is closed up and you cant see anything but the light when they are flipped up. i'd imagine that you havent done this for the circle lights because you would have to make a mold and go through the process of making a bunch of them, which would cost money if done right. you see what im saying?

Isn't there a product that the "sleepy eyed" people use to control the position of the lights? Couldn't you reverse engineer it and make an inexpensive veersion of it? I would think its like a variable resistor isn't it?

I'd buy some if they were flush mounted (non-pop-up) conversion kits.

Why is it that there is always someone who wants the whole design to change?

Rosey, please go buy an eastbear kit.

I didn't say I wanted the design to change, I just said I would buy one if it were flush mount.

eastbear = way too expensive
