jspec oil pressure sender location ?

got a jspec turboII engine for my 10AE and while replacing the vaccume lines and pulling the injectors last night, i noticed that there's no ops. there's just a plug in its place. is that normal? where would the oil pressure sender be on the engine if it werent below the filter? i am thinking i have to remove that allen headed plug and install my old ops in the spot where the plug would be. is that correct?

I have a JSpec in my shed and the sensor was in the same spot as my NA, maybe you have an aftermarket sending unit?

Wierd, I know mine had one though. Then again it was already installed in a US car so perhaps they added it.

oil sensor is in the same spot for all FC motors. Sounds like the mad tyte Japanese blocked it off because they were running an aftermarket one or something.

the previous owner probably had an aftermarket gauge installed on an oil filter pedestal or plugged it for another reason. all 13B engines had the same standard location for the oil pressure senders.

Ive seen a few JSPEC 13b turbo's withought the sender. I was told that those where cosmo motors, from before the cosmo came with the 13bre. That they simply had no oil pressure gauge and relied on the low oil light.

so you think that because of the plug, it may be a cosmo engine? i dont see anywhere that anyone tapped in for an aftermarket gauge.

Your engine wouldn't be a cosmo unless it's upper intake manifold looks like this...

this was posted above: "Ive seen a few JSPEC 13b turbo's withought the sender. I was told that those where cosmo motors, from before the cosmo came with the 13bre. That they simply had no oil pressure gauge and relied on the low oil light." which led me to believe that it could have been possible that it was a cosmo engine. it looks just like a jspec 13B turboII engie, with the intercooler saying "rotary turbo with intercooler" and having the unpainted fins. so at this point i really dont know what model its from. i did unthread the plug and it came out super easy. i'll buy a new sender and throw it in before i put the engine in. when my old engine would start up(running on one rotor) the oil pressure gauge would peg itself. thats another beast i have to sort out as well.
