Arron that's good info thanks. I just might put my turbos up for sale and try to go with stuff that's more powerful... I am planning on running high boost pressures so any suggestions are welcome.

Why run high boost pressures? Size a turbo appropriately so it will make the power you want at under 20 PSI. Running high boost pressure is just bragging rights, and leads to poor reliability and other issues. Why have to rely on super high octane fuel and alcohol injection when you could just run pump gas?

Because E85 is plentiful around here and I've got to beat the fastest RX-7 in Colorado. So give me tips rather than borderline criticism. I need to make near 600 Horse. I'm planning on a large street port, Cryo frozen RA Apex and Side Seals. Bosch Fuel Pumps, 1600 injectors and so on and so forth....

Everything I have given you is a tip from my considerable amount of rotary experience.

With E85 available, things are a bit different. I didn't know you were going to run it, or missed it earlier in the thread.

Now you say you want to make 600HP instead of 500HP, so I'd recommend going to a bigger compressor, 94MM, which you can get on the 4094 or the GT42R. In your case I'd say go with the 4094 due to packaging issues and your ability to run a bit more boost.

Oh, don't ever take anything I say as the negative. Just look at my text and think "positive". I'm never negative to anyone here but am always direct and concise because I make a lot of posts. And I have about 25 PMs waiting for an answer that arrived in the last day, so it pays to save on typing time.

Gotchya!

Thanks for the tips. I don't have to MAKE 600 just get near it. I need to get close if not into the 10 Second quarter mile range.

Yeah, I forgot about that.

Building an engine for a 10 second car is easy. Building a drivetrain is a bit more complicated and putting that power to the ground requires some work. I think J-Rat is the member you want to ask here about 10 second streetable RX-7s. Off hand he has a cryo-treated transmission and some rear end upgrades.

Once you put slicks on a car, it is a whole new ballgame and you will find every weak part in the drivetrain. The engine is easy...

Now is that such a large turbo I'll need nitrous to spool it? I'm getting a nitrous intercooler spray bar so I'll be able to plumb it to the manifold to spray and help spool but if I don't have to I won't worry about it.

A GT4094R is only a slightly large turbo for a 13B rotary. You won't need nitrous to spool it. With a good street port it should be at full boost before 4500RPM.

Actually, you will break more driveline stuff on radials then wrinkle walls.

I was hitting 1.50 60 foots on stock halfshafts and stock rear end.

I found an engine I'm gonna take a look at. I want to talk the guy down so I'm gonna (poor man) compression check it when I go to check out the engine. Even if the compression is good I'm gonna rebuild it. However what should the compression be on a good turboII block?

isnt that a bit of a subjective question since you have to factor in starting speed?

What's the reason? I've been afraid to put some meats on my car and lay down some good times because of drivetrain breakage...

They absorb driveline shock MUCH better and are not prone to "hopping". I was consistent 1.50 60's with no rear end work other then new busings. Those were ET streets of course, and if you come out with a little haze they will hook AND keep the shock loading down.

But update wise I got my 5.3 LM7 engine in today, Wide rear fenders in the other day and my 6.0L heads come in tomorrow

Oh, blah. I think I would've prefered no update after reading that. What happened to the supra motor swap?

Pics please! (:

Kasey kept his 1JZ and put it into a SC300...

Chevy aluminum 5.3 outta Silverado fuel injected with 6.0 heads to lower compression to 8.6:1 with probably a 78 trim turbo, LS9 (ZR1) camshaft and LS6 Intake manifold.

I gave up on that... besides Mike B wrecked the fastest RX-7... I'd still like to be the fastest RX-7... just won't be rotary.
