So i have a 90 GTU with no motor and i found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...1%7C240%3A1318
and was wondering if it would be worth it
i have always thought a RHD car would be cool but havent found anyone that has dont it on here

I say go for it........ everything seems to be there on most clips. Ideally you get just the clip with out the engine for the major hardware, then buy an engine from a reputable source (japan2la or atkins only). I think there may be a guy in jersey with this same, but s4 style conversion...........clean as hell.

See if the seller will subtract the price of the engine from that price.

good luck, that will be cool.

...Oh....my fault... I meant THAT seller. BEFORE..i meant,By the clip only from jdm super store then get the motor from japan2la. NOW........get it all from japan2la.

Thing is gonna be badass.

I recomend a 400 dollar plasma cutter from ebay too. Mine has worked very very well.

I have done this swap. I bought my clip off ebay too.

It was kind of an easy swap but it was very time consuming

My shell was an s4 na auto

The clip was a jdm s5 manual Turbo

I think i paid 2000 for mine and it had 54,000 MILES

The motor from my clip has been running strong for the last two years.

I bought my shell for 200 and it had 60,000 miles on it. The guy I bought it from ripped the engine out to put in his airplane.

Just to add a little more about my clip. When I bought mine it came with a
6 puck excedy clutch
JDM Tokico HTS Dampeners
RS*R Springs
sideskirts
a defi boost gauge
aftermarket braided clutch line

All for free and the only things I was informed about getting extra were the side skirts and hood.

So for your situation I would maybe ask whats been done to the car and if he'll trow in any extra freebies.

it wold be a very fun project, if you can weld and fabricate...

remember, theres things like the brake booster and clutch master cylinder that would have to be moved over along with the steering column and pedals. you could either cut out the entire fire wall and weld the other one in. or try and replicate the mounting positions and holes.

if you cannot weld or fabricate, it will be VERY exspensive to pay someone to do this. i am a Certified welder. going rates for custom work like this range from 50-80 dollars an hour depending on the person. and it would take many hours.

post picks of your progress if you go along with it...

napsterfreak15... post some of yours. im sure plenty of people would like to see this done. how did you go about doing yours?

Replicating the holes and mounting positions is easy. Both sides of the fire wall have the same indents so no measuring was required. Switching firewalls would be a huge pain imo.

pics n info can be found here.

And no its not the best thread in the world to say the least lol

Sweetness! Its even an s5. Your swap might be a bit easier then mine. since they are both the same series. I wounder if the rear harness will plug right into the JDM harness on the fusebox and also if the door electrical plugs will plug into the JDM dash harness.

I had to rewire all mine and that was a pain for me.

Also just woundering If its an auto. if it is you'll need to extend the driveshaft

That's the best way to go. You don't need RHD, spend that money on going faster.

I don't know you can get a lot of attention with a RHD. Especially from the ladies!!!
