JDM 13B - direct swap??

hey i'm confused.... or well i guess i'm just looking for advice. this question has probably already been asked, so flame all you want - i don't care - the forum search on this website is ridiculously slow (even with my cable modem). so anyways on with the show:

i have an '89 GTU with 193,xxx miles on it, and i am purchasing a rebuilt JDM 13B very soon, because my engine has developed a bad apex seal, i think (smokes from bottom of engine, smells like oil but doesn't appear to be coming from anywhere where oil would be ?? idk)

is this engine a direct swap?? like plug and play, since it's JDM and all will it still work with my USDM wiring harnesses?? or am i looking at alot more work than i expected?? i know i sound like an idiot, but it's only because i am!! i don't know too much about engine swaps and whatnot (b/c ya know i don't drive a Honda and all )

also i am looking to give my FC some *****.... i'm thinking possibly lowering the compression and turbocharging.... what are my options as far as that goes, because i read that there aren't any available turbo kits for n/a FC's. is this just a load of ****?? help me out guys, i'm a retard

i appreciate the help i hope you guys will give me in response to this thread, and i apologize for coming off as a retard - i'm 16 and i just bought my FC at the beginning of summer, so forgive me

thanks - Andrew

TO START I would like to let you know that apex seals have nothing to do with a smoking engine.... second, yes 13bt is a direct swap all you need is the n/a front counterweight and flywheel, along with a turbo ecu and turbo acc cable.... and finally, turboing an n/a is alot more complicated than you think and for the money I would rather go with the swap(alot cheaper and easier). anyways goodluck on w.e you decide to do... Ill be surprised if someone else replies to this thread..
been discussed sssssoooooooo many times

No excuse about it being a slow search function.

if you are seriously thinking about the swap then go with a 89 or newer 13BT, lighter components and overall a stouter engine. You will need either a Front mount or a TII hood, an ecu, wiring harness, and either an auto drive shaft from another Rx7 or the complete TII drivetrain which I strongly recommend. It is a drop in but either way it is quite a project; that's why I'm paying someone to drop a TII in to my vert.

read around the forums, there are plenty of smart helpful people, but you need to look for the info. I think someone has a writeup on this.

either way good luck and enjoy your project!
