Jackasses in the night
My car was struck early this morning by a person, or persons unknown, who thought it would be humorous to swipe the caps off my vert rims.
So, a few thoughts:
1. Been on ebay to look for these, and they're 20 bucks a piece, or more. Anyone know anywhere to find them cheaper?
2. In the picture of the front, there is a cap in the center, whereas the rear hub doesn't have that cap. Is that normal, and if not, what's missing?
3. What kind of retarded monkey steals the caps off the rims? Do you really feel that special that the caps mean something to you?
Anyway, thanks for any input given.
Enjoy.

No, you can't just tighten them down some more. I have these wheels.
Our BBS version and a few others doesn't use a thread (a lot of other BBS wheels of the era do) - it uses a type of cam and plastic spring type attachment. You turn past this tension (which on some caps becomes weak(er), and the cam pops into the locked position. On some caps you really need the BBS wrench, others you can take them by hand.
These are always in demand. I paid an average of $30 a piece on ebay, and that was cheap. I don't know what the deal is, but the sets that people have seem to keep circulating in the black market. As wheels get damaged, there should be more caps than wheels eventually, I don't know. Needless to say, when my caps are on (I don't even have them on the car right now with the car stored in my private garage), I am always in view of the car waiting to kick some douchebag ***.
BTW, call the dealer and see how much they are (make sure you're sitting down).

hahahaa, they wanted $4.21 for a single crush washer and it had to be special ordered!! that's why they're called stealerships. They know the friendly, proper way to screw someone and then have them say thank you.

Sorry... i lost a few of mine and needed some. just kidding.
When i got my 'vert, there was a spare cap in the trunk that was labelled "BBS" instead of "Mazda" like the ones on the car, so I think that there was probably at least a few other cars that had the same sort of caps. Also, i've seen some BMW's and Infiniti's of the same age that had remarkably similar wheels by BBS, so the caps off of them might work.

I doubt another rx7 person swiped them - - - there's only 5 in this town, and I own 2 of them (87 cpe, 90 vert). One other vert. It was just some jackass(es) interested in proving their own self-worth; filthy bastards.
Now I just have to decide whether I want to replace them, or get that riceboy spoiler I've never dreamed of. lol
