J-Spec Emissions Question.

Im going to get a Jspec engine and was wondering if it could pass emissions without the aspec emissions crap. Anyone done it before?

Most of the "A-spec emissions crap" is on the J-spec engine. Missing is the pre-cat, EGR, AWS and split air solenoid, Everything else is pretty much the same. You would probably fail a thorough visual inspection, but whether you could meet the numbers is anybody's guess. My guess would be no, otherwise that stuff wouldn't have been there. Not that if you swap the A-spec intake manifold, solenoid/vac rack and downpipe onto the J-spec engine you'll have everything you need.

And before you refer to the emission controls as "crap", remember that without them there would never have been an RX-7. Ever...
