Red face I've searched and it only brought up more questions...

I'm starting to collect my parts to build a TII with moderate mods.

I have:

S4 TII:
Turbo
Transmission
Soon to pick up the rest of the drivetrain

I need pretty much everything else. ECU, manifolds, intercooler (I think I am gonna go front mount)

This stuff is all going into a S5 GTU

It's been suggested that I port the intake runners on the turbo but have not been able to find a write-up or pro's and con's to this.

I'm hoping to use the housings from a S4 N/A I have. What modifications am I going to have to make to the block to run the oil to the turbo (I guess). The block will be getting a moderate sreetport.

I'm going to get a lightweight flywheel from Racing Beat (clutch as well from them).

When it comes to counter-weights and what-not which one am I going to need? Also E-shaft to use?

My S4 N/A wiring harness should still work when I convert to TII correct?

Porting the wastegate should help against creep so I am planning to do this soon since I already have the turbo.

I've heard lots of arguements against using N/A rotors for turbo applications. If I run low boost (5psi at most) What would my power be looking like. I would have to upgrade the fuel system as well to keep everything well fueled to protect from detonation (correct?).

I'm gonna be removing the A/C (doesn't work anyways) and P/S and maybe the ABS (which doesn't seem to be working either).

Emissions will be removed as well but I have found plenty of good write-ups on that however.

Thank you for any help. The main problem I have found from searching is the fact that I am gonna be using S4 things in an S5. If I have said anything dumb above please correct me. If anyone has any suggestions please say so. I've been reading up on rotaries for some time now and I still get confused with some of this stuff.

Thanks again,
Mason

You can't really port the "intake" (compressor) side of the turbo without the right equipment, but you can certainly do the exahust (turbine) side. There is a great writeup in the Archives about porting the wastegate. If you check out Ted's site (http://fc3s-pro.com I think) he has a writeup on porting the exhaust runners.

Porting the wastegate is absolutely necessary to avoid overboost/boost spikes. Porting the runners allows for snappier turbo response, and better flow.

If you are talking about porting the intake manifolds, there are writeups in the Archives.

You will need to drill the coolant passage out on the appropriate housing to match that on the intake. I always forget if it is the front or rear housing, but it will be obvious when you hold the lower intake manifold up to the block.

Don't know about the counterweights, ask Racing Beat. Use whatever 13B E-shaft came with the engine.

Nope.

Search "high compression turbo" or "6 port turbo". If you are beginner, I don't recommend you do this.

Swapping between series is a major pain in the ***. Best suggestion is to keep the S5 electronics, and swap them onto the S4 block. Don't mess with swapping in the S4 ECU.

This has also been well covered. A search for "s4 s5 TII swap", "series turbo swap" or variations on those should turn up lots of info.

Thank you very much. I've been searching for the wrong keywords I think.

Hmmmmm... I will go back to searching and if any more questions come up I know who to ask. Thanks again.

Yep, it is. Wouldn't be my first choice, but with a right angle drill (or small regular drill) you can easily do it. I'd suggest flushing the cooling system afterwards to remove the metal chunks...
