Its been cremated.....
Must be rough having parents buy you cars. I'd been working since I was 11 (if you count the paper route) so I could actually get the hell out of dodge when I turned 16.
Comprehensive is the only way to go ins. wise. My full glass coverage landed me with a check which was more than 6 mo's premiums, and they'll never raise rates for a windshield as its a safety device. (mine cracked)

I am sorry to see what happened to your car. It's a sad day when a rare car is taken off the roads, espically one that I have loved since they frist came out. I know what you are feeling like when it comes to the poor stuident thing. I am a poor *** soldier, and I make about as much as wellfair, if not less. I lucked out in finding my rx. Sold my '86 AE86, bike, and playstation to pick her up, and still waiting for the funds so I can aquire my running motor. It's a hard day when you loose something that has taken blood, sweat, tears, and your bank account for years.
I used to have a '71 datsun 510, that I had built from the ground up. She was an ugly primer thing, but she took me just about a two years of hard work to get on the road. Taking 2 parts cars, and chassis to piece her together. When I was done I had a n/a 2.1L 4cl turning 224hp at the rear tires, weighing in at 1947lbs, and hauling butt around town. One day while screaming around my fav local back road, I was about to upshift when a part of the block (between the cyl's cracked off. The chunk of block, lodged between the crank and the con-rod. Causing my motor to go from ~8200rpm to 0 in less then a second, and sending a shock wave through the entire drive train. I shattered 3 rods, and broke the 4th. The force of the stoppage spun #3 piston 90deg as it ran home to the chamber. The open exhaust falve missing it's depression in the piston, was shoved up through the rocker and putting a 2" dent in the valve cover, but not before it snapped my $575 custom ground cam. The passenger side of the block at the pan was blown through the inner fender well, the flywheel came into 12 sepperate pieces, tearing holes in the side of the car. The rear end/LSD exploded, and the rear cover of the diff cracked open. The catastrophic event was so violant that both my head lights were shattered (the driver side's were removed for a "ram air" intake into the carbs) and the hood popped open.
I know what you are feeling, my car was trashed, and with holes in the subframe, I could never repair her. I am just glad the scatter shield held, and I was not hurt. No matter what happens to your car, as long as YOU are alive, and able to tell the story, everything is good. Times are hard when you don't have much money, but honestly, I would rather save and wait for money for the car, then try and finish the year of school out from a hospital bed. Just keep your chin up, you will get back on the road, and with what you have learned, you can choose a better car, and do the mods over. Call it a fresh start with a blank canvas.
If you are wanting to fix the issues with the car, I am srue there are people here that are willing to make a cheratable donation for ya. Be it in engine and body parts. As long as the chassis is unhacked, all the bolt on parts can be easily be replaced. I know it doesn't look like much, but if you want to keep *this* car it is a possability. IF not, I am sure you can part out what is left and make enough money to buy a new RX. If you are worried about shipping, I payed $55.75 to ship 163lbs of car parts from Oakland, CA, to Seattle WA. Just go to your local amtrak station, and they do shipping. $47 for the first 100lbs, and $0.47 for each lb after that. They provide a pallet, you just need to secure your stuff to it. IT's a cheap way for moving tons of weight. Might help with the bigger parts (fenders, bumpers, hood, etc) J-spec motors are fairly cheap, I just payed $825 for mine.
I am new to the T2 world, and I also have an 87, where is the PD, and how do I get rid of it? If it saves my baby from the BBQ I will gladly pay what it takes to keep her safe. Also looks like my baby will be getting a halon system before the fuel cell.

Dude, everyday I look at my PD and just think to my self. "IM NEXT" Did u have the stock 86-88 Fuel rail or 89-91.... For u guys with 86-88 FC3S its not a bad investment to get the 89-91 fuel rail and while your doing that you can check the other systems and do the throttle body mod.
Sorry that your car commited suicide. Just rebuild her one step at a time. Now u have another story to add under your belt.

replacing a S4 PD and Fuel rail with a S5 is just a waste of money, and when it fails has the same firey problem.
At least with the S4 rail you can replace the PD with a new one every ten years (as I have suggested in dozens of posts) or use a banjo bolt.
The S5 and S6 rails... you just screwed.
Besides... his fire is looking much more like an electrical issue than a PD.

). One roll is like 7$, and does about 1.5ft of wiring.
