ITG air filter
I needed to buy a new air filter.
Following the advice of a friend (i won't do it anymore) i ordered a filter from ITG.
Those are foam filters.
It is supposed to be really good etc...
I ordered the 86-92 model (which should fit a fc3s...).
But the filter assembly is upside down !!
Basically, there is an entry face and an exit face and when you put it in the airbox, the exit face is facing the flow...
Also, the seal surrounding the filter is so hard, that you can't fully close the airbox...
I asked the shop that sells it. they say it's normal, there are two kind of airbox on the 86-92 generation and that i had to order the 92+ filter...
From what i know it's not the case... fc and fd even have the same filter...
So as i damaged the filter while trying to fit it, the seller won't take it back, the only thing is that they offer me a 20% discount on the 92+ filter. That's fair from them.
But what i don't like is that ITG itself won't answer why they did such a shitty product...
Anybody has an itg filter ? Am I plain stupid and just don't know the special magic to install it ?

Contact ITG directly. They need to know that their filter doesn't fit properly, and that their distributor isn't very good.
The mesh is usually on the engine side of the filter, while the foam is usually on the intake side.
The 86-95 RX-7 all have the same sized filter on North American models. It is the 1Gen GSL-SE 84-85 filters that are different. European models may be different. Do you have a serial number for the old filter?

I've contacted both itg and the supplier. The supplier did his best but he's not responsable of the mistake. Itg answered me this morning. They will cross check the filter. In the meantime they offered to exchange me the filter. But as my is slightly damaged, i prefer to send them a picture first.
On the fd, is the flow in the same direction? Or is it reversed ?

Good news (for me).
I've talked to one of the guy at ITG all day long yesterday.
It happens that they are located in the city where i was leaving when i was in uk .
the cutter cut apparently is no problem, they can remove, remold and reattach the seal.
So i sent my filter back and next week they will send me the filter for the fd.
They will try to understand why the filter is wrongly assigned.
So in conclusion, it's all good !

I know it's good quality and all but still... i can't spend too much in the car...
And also, the ITG filter has some nice feature. I mean, when i have the correct one
