Just wondering what size front mount will fit with the stock bumper. I'm not going for huge horsepower so it doesn't have to be a giant intercooler. Thanks for the input.

 

A-Spec is offering one for FC's in the vendors section. I'm getting one from them and having them install it before I have Steve Kan tune my ride too.

Then don't waste your money on a FMIC.........especially if you have a stock turbo......just keep the thing running mint with reliability stuff.

The front mount may help temps a bit on a stock turbo but will create FAR greater lag (on a stock turbo) due to the increased area that needs to be charged....

 

I would say a front mount is a relability mod...considering his location in the summer...it gets hot there!

damn my best suggestion is get the greddy fmic kit. you can run it on the stock turbo like it was made to fit it (it was). And you have the room for growth into more power when you are ready. A added plus is that its all aluminum mandrel bent piping. At idle I can hold my hand on the left side of the pipe leading into the intercooler and its a little hot, then touch the other side of the pipe leaving the intercooler and its cool to the touch. You can beat that.

Do not try some ghetto *** exhaust pipe job that looks like 2 high school kids made it. $1095 does it right the first time.

 

A FMIC can be both good and bad as a relaibility mod.

You are removing the heatsoak factor BUT you are now adding a HUGE block in front of your radiator.

 

Yeah, that is a good point. An upgraded radiator is really needed at that point while paying attention to ducting.

Then of course watch your oil temps.

Exactly. DUCTING is a huge help when switching to FMIC.

J-rat and other guys here in AZ can vouch for that.


Another flow theory is to place the FMIC close to the radiator/oil cooler/ac condensor as well. That way there is less turbulence in that void between the FMIC and Rad.
